i do like those older store fronts. they fit into a neighborhood better than the big places they are replacing them with.

    either way, i like it.

I just rode my bike from Toronto on the empire state trail. Few shit hole cities I would rather forget but honestly some of the most picturesque landscapes and riding I have seen was from Albany to Red Hook. Stopped in Germantown for a beer at the local store. Wow ! Some money up there for sure and the estates are something else. The road I took outside of Hudson was Yates road that turned into Church road and then onto the empire trail. Was a bit lost but so glad I got off the track. Truly amazing country. 7 days down and 1 more to go into NYC. Currently sitting in a shit motel in Mahopac drinking a well deserved Dogfish IPA.
What if "Alternative" energy wasn't so alternative ?

Oh shit, you're 3 minutes from my house. Not much to do on a rainy morning here. Don't go to the diner next door, it sucks! The bagel shop next to the auto parts store is very good and only a few hundred feet from that diner.

M2- Thought of you when I saw these. Wouldn’t these donors look nice in your yard? Maybe half tarped and on blocks?

man, enclosed spaces are no joke. they always seem to pull more folks into the death trap as other people try desperately to help those inside.

It really is tragic. I remember when Ray Varney died the same way in Maine. Such a strong skier.

I'm not going to lie, I've had to watch the confined spaces training videos for many years on the job. And I would still be torn and want to help a buddy in trouble. That would be really hard to resist. And live with if I didn't go after them. Why did an IT guy have to watch those? Because it was also a manufacturing facility. Also raised floors have confined spaces. Never go inside a tape library without the proper protocols in place.

I need some odds and ends for my pos minivan that don't make sense to buy new. Where are some of the great pick 'n pull junkyards around the state? It's just about the most common vehicle in fukn history so any good yard ought to have a bunch of them.

Some of the "best" yards I've been at are Luddites and still allergic to the internet. I will probably look there but figured some personal suggestions would be good.

God I love a junkyard but he’s right / that’s the way to find the goods . I use one vendor now he’s on a national shared database similar to the car part model it’s too easy. But please don’t let me stop you from wandering a random yard of artifacts if you’ve got the time!

Hidalgo I think. Every time I go through that town I like it more. I've never been there when it's busy but in the shoulder seasons it's a really pleasant place.

Nice. It's fun when the town in busy during ski season, but I think fall is really fantastic there.
