I'm back in the upstates for the week, hung with the boys downtown at the Genny brew house last night, cream ale tastes so much better on draft when it's brewed across the street with that fresh high falls water.

the fam from utica is comin' to town for turkey day tomorrow, my uncle reached out and asked if anyone wanted him to pick up an extra or personal tomato pie to ensure we have leftovers, I said hell yea.

Any of you guys have any recommendations for a place/location to stay when skiing Gore for a weekend?

Have skied there a few times before/but just day trips.

I went to grade school with Scott Oliaro. Cornell, not Ithaca, though.

That’s a tough one. A local lady I met in the gondola a few years back was talking up some supposed slope side development on the skibowl side but I never checked it out. North Creek could certainly use a little infusion of cash though. There has to be something around there.

Used to be the Black Mountain Lodge. Nothing fancy, the bar/restaurant was good last time I was there. 5 minutes from Gore

Which resort (or ski hill) is that? It is melting fast as far as western NY is concerned (South of Buffalo probably will not be loosing as fast though.)

Welcome back the the Motherland…a rare treat to have Bristol open pre-Thanksgiving hope you capitalize

Never got in to the tomato pie frenzy. Cold pizza with no cheese? I’ll pass

Weren’t we taught in high school that Utica was central NY? Not upstate? Still a believer

Yes. I’m glad at least one person has been paying attention.

Happy Thanksgiving, people. Wave to me on the thruway.

Unfortunately didn't bring my ski gear back this go-around but I'll surely have it in tow over Christmas in a few weeks; I'll reach out and maybe we can get some laps in.

I started a debate at dinner last night about where the boundaries of the upstates lie and the argument got quite heated. most of the family was on board with Central and Western NY being sub-regions of Upstate; but others vehemently denied that and tried to say it was just the area between NYC and Albany, which is absolutely preposterous.

I can't remember what we were taught in high school, I think you and I and others were probably too busy goofing off, but if that's true then whoever our teacher was at the time clearly didn't understand the intricacies of the topic.

Tomato pie is not pizza! If you don't drool over it, you might have to prove your upstate cred.
