What? Like all the way to Lake Champlain? Or the Adirondacks? The Hudson goes pretty far north. This is actually evidence that they were all downstaters. Like my college buddy from Yorktown/ the Bronx who asked me if Albany was in Jersey.

I grew up there and walked there almost every day. There is no massive lot. It's a riverfront park. Must be thinking of COH.

And thanks for the info on IP3. Didn't know that. My Dad worked there for over 30 years. I used to get up in the middle of the night as a kid and help my Mom bring trays of lasagna or ziti down to the night shift.

This gets me thinking in a new direction. Trains going north from Croton have to switch to diesel from the third rail to the south. Could be a variable there of demarcation.

And knowing it well, Verplank seems upstate AF.

I think they nailed it. A hundred pages ago I mentioned that east of the Hudson is a odd or strange place to me. They are right. Everything east of the river has a vibe that is much different than the rest of Upstate. I think the line of demarcation is the border of Rennselaer and Columbia or Columbia and Dutchess...probably Columbia and Dutchess.
