Nice GL! I saw a Bloody Mary cocktail in cans recently. I’m pretty picky since I make a damn good one but I could see there coming a time when it would come in handy.

For me it's about how low in sodium this one is. Well, that and I love garlic The couple that makes the stuff are cool and their facility is right off US20 so next time you're in the area stop in and check them out. Geneva is sort of a hot spot for beer too with a couple of breweries and there's wineries all over also.

Is it Rt 17 or is it I86?
WTF is with the speed limit constantly changing? Fkn pita having to pay so much attention to something so trivial.
Who thought it was a good idea to have driveways and intersections randomly set along a hilly, twisty section of Interstate(?)?
Why aren't there more Wazers out here so the crowd sourced info about the proliferation of smiling NYS Troopers is more accurate?
Why are all the breweries along the way closed on Tuesday?
I went to St Bonaventure in Allegany. I was from CT just south of Springfield Mass. Route to school was Mass Turnpike to Binghamton and then Rte 17 the rest of the way for about 4.5 hours.

The wind hits your car like a ton of bricks down the N-S lake as it steams in from Lake Erie with all that lake effect with it, kicking the 3' of fresh the plows are removing from the bridge straight into the air to the point you can't tell which end is up. You can't stop either cause there's two trucks behind you as well.

I've never been so happy to feel the other side of a bridge under my tires (still couldn't see).
When I was there they had 4 years of record snow in Ellicotville. If you look at their snowfall totals over their history, my 4 years there- '92-'96 are some of the snowiest in their history. If it snowed at all, it dumped 3 feet- every time. It was incredible.I guess it was meant to be. My folks didn't want me to go out west because they knew I would ski all the time. Instead, I went there and skied way more than I would have at most any other school since the ski area was so close.

Anyway, 2 of those years I had a vehicle. My own Assfinder. A '94 SE V6 manual in Blue Jade Metallic with 31" General Grabber MT's. That thing ate snow. I have never had a vehicle that was more reliable in snow in 4wd. I don't remember that thing ever getting sideways even slightly, not unintentionally at least.

I am picturing your story in the same vehicle. Outside looking like the Millennium Falcon going into hyperspace, the faint light of plow taillights in the distance. To turn on the high beams meant certain snow blindness and death. The few times I needed to drive like that on unfamiliar roads, the only thing that kept me from freaking out was the capability of that Pathfinder. The normal route from Holiday Valley back to Bonas, and vice versa, I could drive today with my eyes closed. Did that route 6 days a week from November to April for 4 years. Driving by braille was common. Good memories. Thanks.

Closest we get to that here is a hard FL rain that lasts 5 minutes and cripples everyone on the highway for days. Pure comedy.

That’s awesome on so many levels. Those were epic snow years indeed and were some of my favorite at HV and with the freestyle team. Man, you aren’t kidding. That Assfinder on those 31” Grabbers was unstoppable in snow, the thing just gripped and plowed through everything.

The brights on in a blizzard was indeed certain death, equally as treacherous was a daytime lake effect blizzard where the overwhelming snow and lack of any defining light made driving like navigating a bowl of mashed potatoes, zero chance on determining what way you needed to go.

My story above was actually just a few years ago the first winter after I got my allroad, on all-weather Pirellis. I’m a firm believer in Quattro after that experience.

LOL at the rain. I’ve said for a while that ATL handles a blizzard better than a rainstorm. At least with the blizzard most everyone is immobilized and can’t go anywhere. In the rainstorm they just plow through like they forgot every single rule of the road.
I still call it The Jake.

That brings back memories. Orange scum that used to mountain bike there in the late 80s. Learned the art of steep descending in those quarries. Do people still ride in there?

    Once, 15 years ago +/-.

A little creaky in spots but otherwise a great place to stay. The porch is epic and views are too.

^^ Quarter mile from the Taconic Pkwy entrance and sight distance from the north side of Rt 6. Pretty much gets it there IMO.

American Can Company in Fairport (a suburb of ROC) is long gone, but has been turned into a cool mix of bars and restaurants. We ate there last night and they had some vintage cans on display. I admit the only ones I know are Blatz and Black Label
