    Spam text messages

In the past 2 weeks I have started getting spam text messages (Verizon is my carrier).

It was 1 every few days now it is several every day and annoying AF.

    Any one else experiencing this?

I get a few a month. Compared to a half dozen spoofed phone calls every day.

Yep, plenty of spam phone and e-mail. The Text shit is new to me and today I got 6 of them. Dr. Oz, decrease you power bill and of course erectile dysfunction pills. Also Christy Brinkley wrinkle miracle cream.

Going to drop by Verizon tomorrow and ask what I can do.

Can you not block the numbers or do they come in from various numbers? I am on T Mobile and have not noticed many spam txt but I do get calls and nobody is there???? I have been getting more emails with attachments from unknown sources that look as sketchy AF. Today one came that said invoice attached. No company info on email. Do people really open this stuff?

Tried blocking the numbers but like the spam robo phone calls the numbers keep changing.

I am hoping there is some better way that the Verizon fulfillment team can help me with.

I used to get spam/scam texts that said "Hi, this is Verizon..." and then something about my account or number. Thing is, I'm on T-Mobile.

I do very occasionally get spam texts now that someone who has my number signed me up for (usually a charity or cause)

bunion, try the nomorobo app. I installed it about a year ago and It drastically cut down on spam phone calls (a few still get through) and I don't get any spam texts at all.

Probably would not do any good and may make it worst. That originally was for land line phone calls. Cell phone numbers were always basically according to the FCC a do not call because in the early days many plans paid for minutes (and some still do have a per minute fee on prepaid blocks of time.) These are many times coming from Overseas operations that do not care that our Government is wanting to protect their citizens and just use that as a database to call anyway. It helps only for legitimate US companies that are doing the calls from US soil and do not want to risk the possible fines.Nigerian, India, China, Russia, etc. robo calls or text messages from scammers and those trying to solicit off shore usually do not care about US laws to begin with and play whack a mole with telephone numbers they spoof for calls.

^Same also Verizon. TXT spam is usual for some sort of payday loan - usually on a Friday. Sad

Replying "STOP" actually works for a lot of them. Political ads especially.

I get the political ones and they are local. Maybe my True Caller app is blocking the rest. It certainly makes a great caller ID.

When I was with Sprint I would get at least a half dozen robo calls a day and a occasional text, usually some asshole that was worried about my credit cards interest rate (I don't have any CC) or the other assholes that need me to call back due to a warrant out for me because my SS number been suspended. I switched us to T mobil and now maybe one a month.

Just back from a great Mtn Bike ride.

Million dollar idea. App for Droid that creates a separate folder. Any text/e-mail/phone calls that are not in your contacts automatically goes in that folder.

I used to get a lot of spam calls and text on my i-phone.

Recently went back to a Google Pixel and have had pretty much nothing since - same phone number. I think Google is able to filter and block reported spam numbers better than Apple.

Check and see if your phone has spam filters that can be adjusted.
