MIAMI and FL. KEYS Bridge and Surf Fishing
Key Biscayne and south. Thinking of bridge, surf and paddle fishing. Mostly for snook, 'cuda, permit, tarpon, spanish mackerel and snapper.
Equipment advise. I'm thinking 7-9' rod with spinner reel. (Probably a Penn set-up, or ugly stick.)
Bait: could be anything from lures to live. I like Rebel, Repalo and Yo Zuri minnows and silver and gold spoons.
Any beta on this type fishing is appreciated.“How does it feel to be the greatest guitarist in the world? I don’t know, go ask Rory Gallagher”. — Jimi Hendrix

Way late on a response but been down in Jupiter, FL and do a bunch of beach fishing.
7-9’ and a 4-5k series reel should do you good. That set up will take anything from the shore outside of rogue big tarpon.
When not on the fly I toss a 7’6” in the morning when presentation really is needed (or small) and a 9’ surf rod at night so I can toss larger artificials/paddle tails.
Come mullet season in the fall you want a larger stick like a 10-11’ that can toss 1.5-3oz plugs.
Good luck it’s a great fishery....questionable ppl but still great fishing!

If you are still there, look for a 7'6"or 8' or 10-20 type rod.
These are my favorites- Lifetime in store warranty.
Get a nice Shimano or Daiwa reel to match, and have at it.
Tarpon from land is a tough one. Fish a nice jetty or inlet at night for BIG Snook.
Haulover is a popular spot.

I have two rods:
10' St. Croix Mojo Surf Medium with Penn Slammer III 6500 (40lb braid)
7' UglyStik Carbon w/ Pflueger President XT 30. (8lb Mono). 10lbs drag.
I wonder whether one is too burly and the other too flimsy for bridges? Although, I think that the uglyStik would be a lot of fun when a 20 foot net is employed
