Kickstands?
So I did my part to stimulate the economy and bought a new bike. A flat bar commuter road bike sorta thing for cruising around town, running errands and stuff. It came with a kickstand on it. I haven't had one on a bike since I was about 8. It's kinda practical - I don't have to lay my bike in the dirt. But for some reason it just doesn't feel right. Is it ok if you are below or above a certain age? What about if I put some panniers on to carry groceries? Thoughts?

My townie has a 2 legged kickstand and it’s crucial. Panniers, bike racks, garage. All of it. A must have

Are there carbonz kick stands? Maybe something blingy from Crank Brothers. I’m sure they could fuck up the engineering on a kickstand.

IME the kickstands like this one ^^ that bolt between the chainstay/seatstay near the back axle work pretty well
Making a parking brake is a good idea to help stabilize a parked bike, get an old tube, cut a couple of 3/8" wide rings off it, loop them thru each other to make a chain, put one end on the end of the handle bar and leave it there
when you park the bike loop the free end of the rubber ring around the brake lever to put the brakes on and your bike won't moveLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

A kickstand is perfectly acceptable on anything but a mountain bike.

Speaking of kickstands, I have a e-bike with no kickstand mount. I need one of the rear chainstay / seatstay combo ones. Anyone know a good one? It needs to hold ~50-60lbs.
