I should shut up about that until we meet in person again.

I will suggest and get for myself the UL core and hybrid layup just for the sake of weight in case we all end up skinning this season. But I'm banking on a vaccine for Christmas.
No way can we survive without the merry consumer season.

    Revised Kusala Size Poll

^^^did not consider that at all until you posted it... dammit! I don’t think it changes my mind on layup (depending on what options become available), but it’s a STRONG point I will obsess about for sure.

I would reconsider increasing the tip height. IMO, you risk reducing the frictionless feel and giving it more of a plowing feel. The Kusala that I still love is amazing at slicing through powder and keeping your speed up when crossing between different depths and consistencies of snow (or when landing drops). With a reverse camber ski you don't need tip height or a soft tip to get the ski to float and not submarine. That's because there isn't camber working against you. Just my 2 cents.

Very cool to see this ski brought back, and in a longer length. I agree that ~2 cm in the tip and body is likely the right call.

Keith and I talked about the Kusala today. Here's some pics of him looking a Kusala over while wearing his invisible man mask. He reminded me that he had cnc'd the reverse camber mold for the Kusala for me when we made it. We hit on some talking points and he's going to get an order page up and we'll meet again next week as we finalize design details.

What is happening with this venture as I don't see them on Keith's site?

I was up at the Praxis factory again last week and Keith said he'd gotten buried on something else for a couple weeks and he'd get that page up on the website this week.

And the Praxis page for the Kusala is delayed until next week. Keith got a visit from the Fire Department and has a long list of things he has to fix for them, so that's taking precedent over everything right now.

Really cool seeing this ski come back from the dead. Even though I don't use it out here in Europe, it's still my favorite ski period. When I return to Colorado, I can't wait to take em out of storage and get back on em.

    These look incredible.

Any word on how long the pre-order will be open?

Also feedback on if I’d be crazy to mount a shift on these? I’m thinking resort powder ski mainly, but I’m curious about getting them out touring if the resort scene is less than ideal this winter.

Keith and I are getting together again this week to finalize some design specifics.

We'll come up with a close date on ordering.

Damn, the veneer option is haunting me. Any idea on weight per pair with veneer, if it’s less then my 187 Protest ima make this happen as my deep 50/50 ski

    I would love like a 195 kusala.
But Ellen kicks ass - if she had a beard it would be much more haggard. -Jer

I don't see why it would be crazy. My OG kusalas were my touring ski forever. If I was able to get a new longer pair Id be putting shifts or techtons on them for sure.

Also curious on the weight. I reallllly don’t need these but they sure are tempting... maybe just won’t get veneer. They’ll be the black sheep of the family though, considering I have Piste Jibs, Qs, Praxis Lhasa’s, and Protests all in veneer

    Fuck it, let's go bowling.

Ordered, hoping that there will be an ultralight pressing of some sort.

I'll bend Keith's ear on an ultralight option when we get together. He wants maple stringers for binding retention. I want him to add an extra layer of glass and carbon there on an aspen core for weight savings. But he's the one who has to warranty them, so I haven't argued the point.
