Rad. That will be a fun, versatile bike.

What have you bought/upgraded today.
Did a short first ride on Maven Ultimates (stock metallic pads) today. Installed them last night onto my Rail29 with the same 200mm HSR rotors.
Comically powerful.
Will be swapping in organic pads tmrw for a lap, then probably swapping to 180 rotors.
They are large and kinda heavy, but I like the levers more than I thought I would once they got on the bike. The caliper is a little goofy.

The spring on the lever is definitely stronger than other brakes. We are wondering if that was purposeful to provide more feedback and ‘balance’ the power of the system.
I have dominions on another bike, and the light lever feel to the amount of braking power is on the other side of the spectrum.
Ideally, I’d like a lever feel somewhere in the middle….probably like Shimano.

Swapped to 180 rotors, moved my lever bodies slightly inboard, messed with lever reach a little, discovered that the stock pads were organic lol.
By the bottom of my second lap today I was getting the feel for them. Definitely more modulation than my experience last night and still a silly amount of power.
The heavier feel of the spring in the lever is more noticeable when the bike is in the stand than when riding. It’ll be interesting to see if it gets noticeable on longer descents. I’m going to Asheville in 5 weeks, there will be some worthy vert there.

frame got here, started putting it together
would be cooler if the hoses didn't go through the headset but it does seem like it'll be pretty clean and low profile and good looking, and with only brake hoses to route it's not that terrible to set up.
anyone want to buy a kona major jake?
e- finished bike, rode it. seems ok

25+" of fresh snow last weekend gave me time to do a good pre-season teardown. Replace I9 bearings, cleaned/regreased the cassette to freehub body, did a lower fork service and...
Got inspired by volklpowdermaniak's post #2429 a couple pages back and decided to upgrade the Mezzer's bling factor. She'd had a few dings and scratches and could use a face-lift.
Stripped down and thoroughly cleaned inside and out.
Sanded down and all internal threads sealed off.
This stuff. Pretty amazing and supposed to be super tough. Was concerned that the cap showed redish when I ordered safety orange (AKA Fox Factory Orange)
Color concerns abated. Yup, that's some serious orange.
Pretty cool that Manitou actually includes an extra set of stickers with the forks.
No such thing as too much bling!
Wondering how many times I'll be asked why I'm running my Fox backwards.Last edited by Roxtar; 03-26-2024 at 01:43 PM.

Dude, I love it.
I bought my annual rear tire and this slick new med kit from my medic. I often ride alone and now often ride w my kids, so it seems right. My experience w mymedic has been excellent in years past.

I just got a set of Oneup Carbon bars and my hands feeling much better. Of course rather than change one variable at a time I decided to mess with all of them and dropped my fork and tire pressure and am also trying not to over grip the bars. It is nice going from 750 bars back to 809 though.

Ordered a set of Reserve SL AL 30 wheels which I'll spec out with Maxxis Rekons with a tannus insert to replace the OEM wheels (and a Minion DHF/Dissector combo) on my Trance X2 29er. Looking forward to faster rolling and some weight savings.

I went from 9 speed to 10 speed on my old Serotta. Put some 6600 ultegra brifters on, a new chain, and a dura ace 7800 rear der.
Similarly, on my gravel bike, the old ultegra 9 speed brifters really don't play well with the trp spyre brakes, so I swapped on some 6700 ultegra brifters with the more up to date cable pull leverage ratio, new chain, and 10 speed cogset. I used a micro shift 11-42 and an xt m772 sgs rear der and a wolftooth road link. Setup works pretty well. Fun tinkering.sigless.

My buddy texted me porn pics of my new Lyric and Super Deluxe Ultimate that have arrived at the shop. Counting down the days until the Genius suspension overhaul (replacing the stock Revelation & Float).

Still can't post pics but picked up my new Spur Friday. Shop gave me an extra deal on the sale price for the NX build, will probably upgrade over time as things wear out.
Its a rocket ship on climbs and flatter terrain compared to anything I've rode in quite a while. Will be interesting to see the difference when I swap to some meatier tires than the stock dissector/recon combo. The techier of the local trail systems opens today, I'm interested to see how it does.
