If you've got a coil shock, you can also unscrew the preload ring equal to sag (i.e. 19mm for 65mm stroke shock) and let it sag to that under it's own weight. I like to take a piece of tape to mark the sag mark on the threads, then unscrew it.

Nope, that's why I mounted it so far back. Definitely checked that. The bars get stopped by my brake hose too.

Garmin 500, back in 2011. Someone told me it would get smashed if it was on an out front mount. So I used the rubber straps and mount to put it on my top tube. First time I dug my bars into the dirt, they spun right into the screen of my fancy new Garmin. Lesson learned the hard way while waiting for my crash replacement Garmin.

Also I've got the stem spacer garmin mount, only issue is you need a decent amount of spacer above the stem and it sticks up kind of high.

Yeah, the K-Edge stem spacer mount works great on it's own, but if you want to run a OneUp EDC in the stem, the butt of the computer hangs over the top. So any time you want to whip out your tool (huh huh huh), you got to first remove the computer.

Got tired of having to tighten the e*thirteen bearing nuts on the regular, so i built up a new wheel to replace it:

dt swiss 350 w/ 36t star ratchet, $200 used from pinkbike, $40 for new spokes and nips from Universal Cycles, and i reused the dt swiss e532 rim from the old wheel (which i built a year ago cuz the e*thirteen rim had stress cracks at every drive side spoke hole).



cleaned and lubed the (easy to access) bearings:

I am eyeing the brake clamp and matchmaker bolts but I need to buy a new stem before I worry about those. Original 60 seemed a bit long, this one is either a 40 or 45 and I think I'm going to buy a nicer one in 50mm.

I already had rear ti caliper bolts so really just wanted some front ones, and then noticed they had little m5 button heads for the bottle cages and it all came to like $19. Real easy to go drop $50+ on a few bolts though and I have enough expensive parts possibly coming soon so I think I'll hold off. (monster bolts, better bolts, and pro bolt usa seem to be the best places to get them).

Also I realized I should be using slightly longer bolts and cone washers so maybe i'll need to re-do that. With the 180 adapter the caliper is not parallel to the fork.

I'll eventually get a pic of it on the bike but when I tried after riding it for the first time my boner kept getting in the shot...
I had some complaints about my DPX2 but nothing too serious, just an overall feeling that the shock was a bit underwhelming and that I couldn't get it to feel right no matter what I did with it.
I set the sag on the new one, went with Manitou's recommended setting for compression & rebound, and went for a spin on a trail I hadn't been on this season. Despite the moon-dusty conditions I PRed every downhill segment without really trying as I was focused on getting a feel for the shock before tuning it properly. Supportive, plush, playful, it changed the whole character of the bike. Bonus points for now having all-black squishy parts, none of that Kashima-colored stuff.

My only complaint is that I now have to go back to tinkering with the fork which was well matched for the DPX2 but now feels off compared to the back.

This was exactly my experience with that shock also. Took a while to talk myself into buying it but I'm really glad that I did. The mezzer has not been as revolutionary but it has been better than the Pike and Mattoc I had on previously.

No not for this bike. I have a "race only springs" progressive coil coming for the decoy. Do you think the meta will need one? I will definitely try it on the meta. Just a driveway bounce so far

All new pivot axles and bearings after a million vert. No slop just figure its time. YT seem to seal the pivots well. Put the 2.6 big betty super gravity w tannus liner on the front and a rrp pro guard rear fender on. No longer have to say "on your right/left" just "braaap braaap" when im passing
Going to swap the yari 180 to the meta and put the 38 on to the decoy after i get the 180 air shaft in the 38

Finished on Saturday night but haven’t ridden it yet. I didn’t want to do a shakedown on the ride I had planned for Sunday. Tomorrow after work looks to be the ticket.
I think it’s gonna be about 33lbs with the Saint clip pedals and a steel King Cage.

‘Need’ is a strong word . Looks like the linkage on the Meta is somewhat progressive, but not hugely so:

Which is basically to say it looks like the frame was designed around an air spring with a progressive spring rate.

I wouldn’t discourage you from riding it as is, but I’d think trying a progressive spring would be a worthwhile experiment.

Mine is a 2021. That link was for 2020. Not sure if theres a difference. The 21 does have a couple model options with coils fwiw. Feels a million times better in the driveway test but maybe that means it needs a prog coil and itll blow through the travel as is. Cant wait to find out. Thing is stuck to the ground right now. Extra 2.5mm of stroke makes it 166.5 rear travel and tomorrow the fork will be 180.

Sweet looking bike FlowCron. I hear those ext's are the shizzzz. Is that mulletized or just the angle of the pic? Whats the travel on that beast?

Not mulleted yet, but may give that a try this summer.
Right now it’s 165 rear, 170 front but will probably go 180, especially when the Zeb Runt is ready

Sooo nice! Our bikes are cutting a similar profile. Out on mine with the full 9er the other day. Mullet and full 9er are both addictive im finding.
