Hawthorne, Middle, and West Peak (AK)

Haven't done much ski touring this winter after having knee surgery, influenza, and covid. But with our amazing snowpack, and recent good weather, was nice to get out and link up a few peaks. Final descent was 4,200ft to the pacific, but had to walk the last 400ft. Fair trade.

Solo day screwing around with the drone.

This is why I love skiing here. Seeing the ocean below your ski tips is hard to get over.

Taku Inlet. Wanted to ski a couloir back there today, but the anchorage sucks and couldn't find anyone to skipper my boat. Perfect marine forecast, too. Oh well.

Great link up and excellent snow. Fun to ski alone all day with headphones and just zone out.

I have been wintering in CO. got old. My son is in Cordova and been skiing all the local big lines. Comparing it to 2012. Maybe the ocean cooled off enough that things are back.

Gorgeous photos. Love the mountains to sea. You mentioned it was a solo trip. So how does one ski and fly a drone at the same time?

Launch, set up to track (which doesn't work great), put remote in shirt, ski. Stop, set up another shot, repeat. Finish skiing before battery runs out. It's a handful.
