    Howling at 8pm...

Who's doing this? Apparently it is a thing.

My hood has been gradually gaining steam. I like it. Cool to hear the community that is still here.

Been going on the last 3 nights in my town. Two cars start at one end and drive through clanking pots and pans and such. Can hear howls from a couple of blocks away at least. Pretty good coordination with no coordination for a town of 240 voters.

A local band has been doing a live fac stream which has been cool.

I frequently tour around the city and snap photos of the rising moon. Full moon two nights ago, and it rose early at 7:35 making the 8pm howl quite loud. Inspiring yet also a stark reminder of our mandatory new reality, for who knows how long.

Been a thing for a few around here since the early days of this- picked up and promoted by our minor league baseball team that has a wolf as their mascot. Since they are sidelined and no idea when the season will (or even if) it will start up, they encouraged people to howl.

    How is this a thing?

I would fire off a few gunshots. But public howling?

A bit muted because of the snow/weather, but a solid amount.

We've got a good amount of real dogs howling too, so that's pretty cool. Malamutes and huskies are loving it.

For me the dogs always steal the show. I think tomorrow I'm going to get out my rescue whistle and really try to piss them off.

Coyotes in our ‘hood have been singing for about a week now. I figured it was just the moon phase, but maybe they are woke...

That explains a lot. The other night I heard what I thought were many, many dozens of people. Maybe even 100...I live across the street from the Hospital.

Yep. Plenty of howling going on at 8:00pm sharp.

If you are recreating (for shame!) in the hills SW of town when they get after it, the sound really gets up there. Started during the shelter-in-place.

The fireworks, though...fuck the fireworks. They are never a good thing (or legal) around here. Been very low RH the last few days.

In the Alps where my parents are quarantined right now (until May 11th) people get out with huge cowbells every day. These things are deafening if you get them going. Whole villages are at it...

I've noticed a distinct change in the tones over time. Half desperation, half drunk.
