Maytag Dryer Help Pls!

Any suggestions for what I may be able to do to self help my way through a repair on 12yo Maytag electric dryer? Here’s a pic with detail on the unit. Kinda rather not have folks in my house now if I can avoid it. Make me a hero to my tribe and I owe you big.

By way of follow up - faint noise upon pressing start button. Won’t cycle on, but sounds like some electric activity is occurring.

First thing I would look at is the door switch. Jump that and see what happens. I'll bet a good six pack of beer that's it.

After that, you'll need a voltage meter to chase down the issue. Lots of help on YT and the internet. Google your issues and the model and you can narrow things down pretty quick.

Fuk that was fast. Faint electric buzzing sound and no turnover. Not a too hot or not hot enough thing if that helps.

Yep. I did this once with my washer, narrowed down the likely problem, bought the part from a place that had a YouTube vid on how to install it, followed that, and it worked.

If I could figure it out, a lobotomized monkey probably could.

Piss off to the haters. Run the real gambit in this place from mount your own fucking skis/fix your own fucking dryer to pick up the phone to fix the problem you dummy. Guess there’s good and bad, and I’d be less inclined to order a part if it weren’t these times. [End of blog]

Your belt or idler pulley may have failed. Electrical noise could be the tumbler motor running. Or the tumbler relay on the board could have failed. Open that bitch up, they're not that complicated.

It almost certainly won’t work, but try to unplug it for like a minute and see if it’s lil maytag brain resets and fixes itself.
It works enough that it’s worth a few minutes to give it a shot.

I've fixed my fathers washer and dryer with an hour and less than $40 bucks when he thought to replace them. Simple machines. simple fixes.

Did you jump the door switch yet? Serioulsy, I fix washers/dryers at our rentals about every 6 months on average and the majority of problems have been the door switches.

I've had them go out on our home washer/dryers also, but then I'll just bypass them. But I can't do that in the rentals or some tenant would figure out a way to hurt themselves.

This is the most important thing. Whatever it is, it’s almost always pretty easy to figure out and replace. Ain’t nothin to it but to do it.

And dryers in particular are pretty simple machines (much more so than washers). I've fixed mine 3 times: door switch, drive belt, and heating element. All the info to diagnose and fix is on the webz.

No evidence belt slipped. Opened the bitch up and nothing obviously disconnected.

Yes - and that isn’t it. Same light electric buzzing when I press start button once jumped.

Can you test where the tumbler motor is to see if you're getting 120 volts to it?

Going to try to test the thermal fuse as the door switch wasn’t the issue.
