The fact that whataboutism is presented/perceived as any sort of valid argument is indicative of a massive failure in American education.

Those same jagoffs would lose their shit if someone wanted to abridge their private property rights.

We had a little garden that was pretty weak. So we took an old TV set, some old radios and some junky old Boeing circuit boards and planted them in the garden with little Christmas lights. The TV put out a white noise screen, but the radios worked. People hung weird shit from the trees, like more circuit boards, doll parts (always a favorite of that crew).

I wasn't sure if I could roll my eyes and vomit at the same time, but after reading the last couple pages of this thread, I now know that I can.

Basically can’t do anything. No help around the house and wife is doing everything. She is a nurse in a hospital where two doctors just tested positive. Watching my leg shrink sucks. Worried how I will be able to care for her if she gets sick.

No need for vibes or anything, just needed a moment on the pity potty. Lots of folks have it way worse and I am thankful for what I have.

The food and wine are of course marvelous but I think to get the full benefit of the South of France you have to live someplace cold and gloomy, like England, or Germany. As a Californian some of the appeal was lost on me--although it was still a great trip.

The change starting in 2000 with Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy is pretty startling... and now we've doubled down on it, what could go wrong?

A pandemic arriving that shuts down the economy, therefore tax revenue, when the "deficit" is already out of control due to massive military spending and giving the wealthy a free ride from the IRS?

Neighbors threw a movie party last night for the block--set up a screen on the front lawn and we all sat 6 feet apart in the street. Couple from across the street sitting 6 feet apart from each other. Uh oh. "The Usual Suspects." Kind of a waste watching that movie when you know who Keyser Sose is. Still fun.

    Coronavirus complaint/commiseration thread.

I’m sure other people are dealing with this but some of our kid’s friend’s parents are “over this” and think it’s fake news, overblown, and “we’re letting our kids have play dates”. We’re not comfortable with this at all and when our kid hears about how some of her friends are getting together. it makes her sad. However, she gets it as we’ve stressed the importance of listening to science, but it just sucks to tell her she can’t have play dates. Instead, distanced visits will have to do. And it sucks cause we’ve lost a lot of respect for some of our friends who are so cavalier about this.

That’s fine, I just am not comfortable with it. There’s no difference between that and adults getting together at close range.
