I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Allowed by whom? First of all most hospitals are private enterprises--nonprofit or for profit. They are built where people choose to build them--where they think they are financially viable. Small town hospitals have been closing in large numbers in recent years because they lose money. Truckee does have a taxpayer funded public hospital-although billing for services provide most of its revenue. Should small towns be forced to close if they don't have a hospital, or put up gates at the town limit and stop people from entering once the hospital capacity is full?
In reality, one reason small town hospitals are closing is lack of patients. Neither Tahoe Forest nor Barton in the Tahoe area is ever full, even during high season. Patients are transferred because of a lack of specialists and other sophisticated care for difficult problems. And the big city hospitals are very happy to take transfers from the small town hospitals--important source of revenue for them. Also, many small town hospitals are critical access hospitals which means they receive extra payments from Medicare to keep tthem open. They are required to have an average length of stay of <96 hours. Many small town residents choose to travel to bigger cities for elective medical care because of their concerns about the quality of care, lack of specialists, etc. Adding more beds won't change that and you can't recruit specialists without the volume to financially sustain them.
You are posting about a subject you clearly have absolutely no knowledge of, which of course fits right in to this thread. You fucking asshole weasel

The Ethics of Outdorr Recreation in Times of COVID-19
it’s unfortunate that we manage to find nearly infinite money for bombs, warplanes and soldiers “just in case” but hospitals for some reason must be supply/demand driven and financially sustainable, so that a surge in demand can quickly overwhelm the entire system. oh well, I suppose nothing can be done about it.

Seriously though -- did you not hear all the coverage making fun of Trump for ingesting decontaminates and heat on the skin?
Trump got that from the fact that high temperature/sunlight kills the virus. It's pretty obvious that being outdoors (in the SUN) is not gonna kill everyone.

The only way that works is if you run around completely naked forever, shave all your external hair off and then temporarily disassemble you body into individual cells at high noon for at least 2 hours. All of which will, in fact, kill you.
One way or another.

That entire riff of his reminded me of me.
Circa 1978, 20 years old, dumb as a rock, stoned on some really good Colombian Gold and sitting around with 3 other buddies listening to Pink Floyd and brainstorming how to fix that Coroning thing dude.
Check this out man, we use bleach to clean the countertops, it kills shit, what about.....I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

He actually mused about light under the skin. Like inside the body.

Dear lord, at 7 in the morning!!
If someone disagrees with me they must be drinking. What a solid counter point!
You know who is worse than the ski town dicks?
The Nomaskholes Usually runners. Runners probably the biggest dickheads around. ‘I cant run with a mask cause blah blah’. Then run the hell away from anyone else.
There are 1000s of acres of fields and lesser travelled trails but your prick ass cant figure out how to not run unmasked on the main trails?
If you are running down a main path where everyone else is wearing a mask then you are a selfish nomaskhole.

Wearing a mask on a trail? GTFO. I'll gladly wear one indoors in public or if I'm in a setting where social distancing isn't possible(and I do), but to say someone out hiking should be wearing a mask is ridiculous.

If you are passing other people, wear a mask.
If no one is around, don’t have to.
If you are exercising and passing people without a mask = nomaskhole

I can verify that it is Spring Break 2.0 out there. Safer at Home does not apply to people that don't want to be safe at home. No social shaming witnessed. COVID all over the handle of the pit toilet more that 10 miles from anyone's home I'm guessing. And so it goes...the "new normal".

Well, in that strain, it is not like we pay people well and support them to give our children an education that promotes critical thinking and development skills. OTOH, we have some really cool bombs and people skilled enough to operate a cash register at the GAP. Too bad the pandemic is going to sink retail.
