Buying a shotgun. What do I need to know?

    I want a shotgun.

Maybe I want it for protection, or maybe I want it for hunting.

Either way, aside from a couple outings with friends, I don’t have much experience with firearms.

I already sent rontele a pm, but anyone have any insight?

Drastically different. Fess up on species, and we'll give you some good suggestions.

side by side, or over under, are your best bets, more bang for the buck.
Either way if you miss, you probably deserve whats coming, weather its starvation or the ultimate beat down.
Don't worry about those semi auto models, the pattern is just too small, and pump? if you got time to pump you should have been running to begin with.

I really hope you're just trolling and aren't offering a serious opinion.

Pump is more reliable and economical, semi-auto is more convenient for some but will cost more. I have both and like both for different applications. All depends what you want to use it for. I would stay away from tactical or self defense guns if you have any thought of hunting with it.

Remington 870. 50% off at Dicks till they stop gun sales on Wednesday.

I didn’t plan on buying one when I bought tennis balls last Friday but they were basically giving it away.

Not a gun nut or prepper. Just wanted something for sporting clays, light hunting and home defense.

Man this Coronavirus is blowing up gun sales.

I have 2 friends who just bought their first guns this week. Both like “I want something to do, target practice, got a good deal so I bought it, not anything to do with the pandemic”

Sure bud. When people get skerd they buy guns but don’t want people to know they’re skerd at the same time.

Seen a few posts in here like that too.

    I can’t criticize because I’m a gun owner, just think it’s funny.

I owned an 870 and absolutely hated it. Sticky action, jammed, not a good piece of hardware. A 12g pump is definitely what you want if you can't describe why you're buying it. I'd go Mossberg 500.

I have a full tactical 870 with mag extension and pistol grip with collapsible butt stock. Thing is like 15 pounds. If the slugs and 00 don’t get ya the clubbing action will. Shoots decent. It doesn’t leave my house. But I have a couple brownings. My favorite is my citori lightning O/U 12ga. Dream to shoot, really nice. Probably worth the same amount I paid for it.

If you just want something to shoot, buy a 870 or a semi auto Remington. But honestly don’t spend more then 300-500. I think I paid 200 for my 870 used and put $200 in shit on it.

And that idiot that said stay way from Craigslist, well ya, no shit... try armlist instead. Badass classifieds.

    Remington is crap

I am laughing at the scocialist gun grabbers who now suddenly want guns and are running face first into their own 2A infringements.

And Dicks can eat a bag of dicks.

Overpriced and political stores deserve zero business

    Same same for CTD

Go to your local gun shop and give them your money, that is if they have anything to sell at this point.

Yeezuz, SB - there’s a broad spectrum between “they’re ginna take all yur gunz” and “48 hour waiting period for a background check”.

The old ones were a lot more dependable. Sad that Mossberg is now better.

If you can find it get a Mossy 590A1, get a bayonet for it also.
Case of 00 and a case of slugs.

    Good luck.
