All this loss... so many condolences.

The dark passenger has been my wingman for a while now. Don't plan on being a statistic. But definitely need to change my direction to something more positive. The struggle is real.

Winston Churchill called it his little black dog
    Followed him everywhere

Uggh. In a grind lately. Not wanting to live. But not wanting to die. Just want to be happy.

    Fuckkk

My kids just got their first fallen friend.

9th grader. Mine are tenth and eleventh grade.

I didn’t feel that pain until I was 28. It’s bringing up a lot of emotion. Trying to translate that to my boys.
    Don’t quit.
We’re all dead eventually. Buy the ticket. Take the ride. Suffer with the rest of us. Reach out and ask for help and love.

The hole you create is so wrong.

Ironically I was watching a Shane MSP tribute with my youngest last week. Today I was explaining to him that Shane wasn’t suicidal. He was living on the edge. And living large.
Checking out early on purpose is so wrong.

The purpose of life is to be the eyes and ears of the creator of the universe. Per Vonnegut. Or Kilgore trout. Or some such other shit.

If you're in Utah, please download the Safe UT app.

    https://safeut.org/

IDGAF if you think you'll ever need it or not.

    Just have it.

    Also, Naloxone.

You can get a kit at any metro library, or feel free to DM me and I'll bring you a kit.

Yeah I don’t think the kid was on opioids.

Just a messed up confused high schooler. Somewhat loner. Maybe parental pressure. Maybe happy pills by doctors. Don’t know yet. But by external evidence a handsome young man with a promising future.

I’ve never understood opioids. But they have an evil grip on some.

    I didn’t know him well so I can’t say.

But I do know my boys. I think I do. And I’m scared for them.

Please don't get me wrong, I wasn't assuming anything. I was just using the moment to hop up on my soapbox and wave a flag. If only one person sees it, it's enough.

Vibes to your kid and to the commander.

One of my friends shot himself on NYE in front of the rest of the gang, twenty one years ago. Nobody had any idea he had been suffering.

I'm not great at this sort of thing but as I've gotten older, I've found it's become easier to ask friends and family how they're doing. And I mean how they're really doing. Most of the time folks are fine but it's surprised me a few times to find out otherwise.

Make yourself available and take some time to listen. Lots of people are hurting out there.

    JFC reverend. That’s so wrong.

I can’t imagine a more unhappy new year.

Sorry for that loss and the extra trauma for all that were there.

Most exits are solo and lonely. That one is fucking brutal.

Holy cow, I thought the scene of William H Macy doing that in Boogie NIghts was intense. If I witnessed that for real I'd probably be connecting with the rest of the gang every New Years as a support each other PTSD therapy thing.. but some folks probably prefer to not relive that and just try to move on.

Vibes to that high school. I still remember a kid our town lost back in 9th grade. They had Seasons in the Sun lyrics in the yearbook as a tribute to her.

No one walks down to the Golden Gate Bridge to jump, they run.

Depression can be so painful for some it’s like being on fire, the mind does the unnatural to put the flames out. It’s an involuntary reaction.

I can’t stand it when when society treats the mentally ill as weak people. Most of them have endured a level of pain that is as bad any physical, if not worse.

We have to be kind. Too many shits bags dumping on people in this world.

    Vibes to your sons friends.

So many times it happens to people we believe had no rational reason to be that depressed.. Seemingly very successful happy people fighting unimaginable fears behind the smile and confident facade. It's definitely something devious and tragic.

It’s hard to walk away from the job, or the kids etc. especially if you have a competitive mindset like most in here. But sometimes you have to. I wish had 5 yrs ago when I experienced a true breakdown. But the people around you, my family is like “you have to go back to STL to see the kids”. Or, you’ll lose your job if you don’t go back? Well, maybe I should find another job, or maybe the kids will be fucking fine? Hard to get good advice from family. They have their own interests, like not supporting your ass.

All you can do is change your life the first avaiable chance you have. If I ever even start feeling like that again, even close, I shelf all the assholes and either go skiing, go to a true friend house in California, drive the pch, etc. basically flip the bird to the environment that’s creating this.

I’ve barely seen my kids over the holiday, so I’m finally moving on. Big announcement to a lucky ski area near you coming.

Brother killed himself back in '04, he was in the military, fuck those assholes.
Probably saved me though, mainly because I won't do that to my parents.
    Yeah. I totally feel this.

Lost my sister in 2019. I was never going to leave the planet early on purpose but it gives the bounce back from down days more spring for sure. It also makes the dark side less seductive in the first place.

I never had the extended low lows and long high highs like my sis, and always had more tools in my quiver to deal. But I also never aimed for the stars like she did. That lost dreamy magic my sister had is something my parents will never recover from. I will always answer the phone when they call though, just like i always have.
