Not to switch gears to video games, but the old Fallout 3 was pretty good post apocalyptic fun.

Night of the Comet and Logan’s Run got mentions already. Did anybody mention Bladerunner (#1 IMHO) or Escape From New York? Tank Girl is fun and The Island is pretty good for a newer one. My nominations for worst ever are Waterworld and The Postman. Costner can’t handle this genre.

Or if you like to read books, read The Postman. Much better book. However, Brin's writing style isn't for everyone. I will say that the best part of the movie is Tom Petty. However, he sadly is not enough of a counterweight for Kevin Costner

Fury Road can suck it.
You get one of histories most famous cars "The interceptor" and there isn't a car chase with it?
The first fight is so f--ing terrible they have to speed it up.
A monster truck can run down a semi? They have 5 minutes of gas tops.
I was looking forward for that movie for 10 years and it was terrible.
#1 The road warrior
#2 Escape from New York
#3 The Terminator
#4 Dawn of the dead
Fallout should be a movie.

not apocalyptic but tom hanks cast away could be lived out by many holed up in their domicile by themselves.
feels like night of the comet in Houston, 4th largest city in the nation. no one is out, there is no traffic and no cops, I hit 90 and 100 daily going to work and back.TGR forums cannot handle SkiCougar !

Had fun with Mad Max (and irresponsible levels of whiskey) last night! What made the original film fun to revisit is that it's still halfway grounded in "the real world" before everything REALLY goes to hell in the subsequent movies. You definitely see things devolve as the series progresses.
Man, Toecutter was a butthole. Fun fact: The actor who played him was Hugh Keays-Byrne, who we later came to know as Immortan Joe in Fury Road! Damn, guy knows how to play a villain proper.
