Welp, ski season in France is definitely and completely canceled:
The (French equivalent of the) governor of Haute Savoie (read: Cham & a whole lot of other resorts) is prohibiting ski touring, alpinism, rock climbing, and even hiking in order to avoid burdening rescue personnel (and ERs I imagine even though they're not mentioned). 135 euros if you get caught.
It's still too wet to mountain bike, my dad is going to rage himself into the stratosphere if he's quarantined with my mom with no options to escape.

03-18-2020, 04:53 PM #413I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Must have been another guy who was bragging to me about doing the snow report for ski Utah and how he had passes to all the resorts, but usually only skis soli because it’s more core there. And that Alta skiers were a bunch of tools for not skiing out there that day. But you probably know that guy since he must be a coworker at ski Utah. 🥱🥱

A little bit of rational response, IMO. Whistler is allowing/ facilitating uphill traffic.

I put a coat of storage wax on all of my downhill skis(alpine binders) yesterday afternoon, so if they do re-open the lifts this season, you're welcome.

The main reason for this is because of a land use agreement with the government. Whistler Blackcomb boarders a provincial park, and they MUST allow public to access this land, and if they block access they are technically in breach of their land use agreement with the government.
It’s not like they are allowing people to skin up and just rip down all the empty resort runs.
This “new” access is allowing them to travel up and through the resort, and to exit the back side of the resort to access the backcountry.

The douchebag piece of dog shit who closed our local hill is now lapping it with the snowmobile and gas we paid for with our passes.
