honeycomb canyon descent is rad. climb straight sucks. especially at end
the bugs here suck. two bee stings or some such thing in one day.
    carry on.
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

That’s a bummer, they’re the closest (independent) bike shop to me so I occasionally would hit up the shop when I was in a crunch or last year when I needed a bearing press

It sucks, they had more inventory than any other walk-in shop. Like rebuild kits for old school forks and a boatload of not just maxxis tires

I just passed crankys and saw the sign. Gonna try and hit it up tomorrow. It has been my go-to shop as they always had the best chance of having what you want in stock. Guys were always super cool. Though they did tell my grumpy ass dad the other day to go to REI.

Bought a bunch of touring bags and touring tires to make my Vayo commuter also touring rig. Thanks for the heads up. Always bummed to hear a bike shop close though.

Worst part of Honeycomb is definitely the fact that you usually can't chill out and catch your breath on top or the skitters will fly away with your corpse. Especially painful after pushing up that atrociously steep and loose last bit. But, the down is so good it redeems all.

The summit road is the best. Trails like that need a filter. It's bad enough that ebikes make it so easy.

Yeah man, I’m with you, Dan. Honeycomb gets blown super fast when it’s too easy to get too. Gotta be a little nuts to get up there as is. Good news is soli bike patrol is actively watching for and turning e-bikes away at the base this season, which has really helped make the trail ride much better than compared to the past couple years, imo.

There already were too many brake bumps on upper honeycomb when I rode it this week...

The hard dirt road climbs followed by sweet descents are part of what makes biking in the cottonwoods appealing to me. When I want soft served, I go to the wasatch back (or corner canyon).

Rain started around 15 minutes before we reached the top of Honeycomb last night. That top section after some rain will live in my memory forever. All time. The rock garden... less so. Very slick & slippery in the rain.

Also very good to know re: solitude patrol and e-bikes. I was wondering if they'd do anything about that. More for us!

The rain last night made the road(s) to BMT about as good as you can hope for. Still a little painful but the down dirt was $$.

Yep. I'm in shape but not bike shape and definitely suffered up and down. Wicked humidity with the sun cooking all that moisture out of the dirt. Monsoon dirt and riding fast through popping alpine flowers is peak summer.

Let’s see….not in bike shape, just started biking for the year, on a hardtail and……posts one of the top DH segment times of the year for the BMT on Strava. Solid.

Such fun bikes. Mine's mostly a parts bin build. All in including the frame I think it cost me about $800.

I'll take it! BMT has a lot of pedally and pumpy sections where the hardtail really shines.

Whoa, vibes to your kid! That’s a rough day but at least your son was smiling in the parking lot and the scar is going to be a cool smile scar when it heals. Glad it wasn’t worse….

Didn’t your kid wreck himself at the bird this pst winter? (Could’ve been someone else too)

Heading to Bear Lake this weekend. Any trails worth checking out while I'm up there? Or should I leave the bike at home? Bunchgrass and stump hollow look fun on trailforks...... Anyone have a good loop for these trails?

It's been 10+ years, but I remember Stump Hollow being pretty fun. Plus, it tops out at Peter Sinks which is cool for its meteorological significance.

Bunchgrass is fun, but requires a shuttle or long road pedal up the Tony Grove road. It's also open range and with how dry it's been the cows have probably hammered it pretty hard.

Looping Stump and Bunchgrass is technically doable with some pavement sections, but would be a long day.

Farther down Logan Canyon, Rick's Canyon to Steel Hollow is a good loop. Jardine Juniper is also supposed to be a fun ride but I think it's pretty crowded on weekends.
