I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

@DTM, inspired by your Larry loop.
One of the best rides of the year for me. The level of gnar going down was perfect! Loved it.
Silver on that Turner must be a hell of a ride!

Definitely dry out there, but at this point moisture probably means snow so I'm not complaining.

Man, there are so many skidders popping up. I noticed 2-3 more offshoots below a popular ish trail you connect sections of the well known skidder on, and at least two others that dropped into it today.

It's definitely bone dry out there. Hadn't ridden Brighton in a while, it was a completely different animal than early summer. Dirt is gone, we're down to the bulletproof clay underlayment. The resort has closed one of the slab sections for "revegetation", somewhat ironic considering you ride across a freshly widened ski run about 200' further, complete with torn down trees, trashed vegetation, and the overall gigantic eyesore.
If anyone is looking for serious chunder I'd recommend dropping into Alta from Twin Lakes pass. Grizzly Escape is an absolute pile of dusty rocks chasing you down and throwing clouds of dust at you.

Full on red snake all the way to Alta last night around 7:30pm. Couldn't believe it. Bumper to bumper 5 mph all the way to Lisa Falls then 10 mph for the rest of the canyon. I was frothing at the mouth by the end.

I can believe it. When I went down around 4 all lot and road parking at the Bird appeared to be full already, but the road was full bumper-to-bumper traffic going up from Entry 1 all the way to China Wall.

Rode it last week and saw that, not sure if it was forest service, resort, or some angry hiker made some signs? I never see anyone on Clayton Peak trail either

Definitely ironic when word on the street is they are considering building trails... which will most likely be some bench cut flow bullshit monstrosity built with excavators.

Agreed, 100' of machine built trail will have the same impact as the entire unsanctioned network up there which, as far as I can tell, didn't require a single cut tree...

yep, I went from enjoying the fall foilage to wishing all the leaves would blow off in the manner of minutes at 8 pm last night when we caught the snake..... That said, biking the foilage rainbow really stimulates the senses.

I was cleaning out my gear storage and found a 24x2.4" DHF in 3C MaxxGrip DH casing flavor. Used, but 90% tread left. Free to whoever wants it.

Looks like alpine ends Saturday? Still too early for snow IMO, but it's been a great season.

New bike day! When it snows 3+ feet this weekend you can thank me.

If anyone is holding a 410mm or 420mm 30.9 setback seatpost I'd love to buy it, dropper or fixed I don't care.

thinking of a (first) fam crest lap tomorrow. mom and oldest will be fine. 10 yo is capable but will be a long-ish ride for him as he doesn't get out a ton. wondering what the fastest/easiest route is down from ridge connector? i typically work over to moose puddle but wondering if mm to holly's/richochet better? haven't really ridden canyons stuff in a while.

The easiest way is probably MM heading north to Ambush then Holly's. A few extra miles but it's all mellow downhill. MM heading south to get to Holly's and/or Ricochet is a bit of a climb for the same mileage so if the 10 yo is cooked he might not be psyched.
The shortest option is MM to RedCoat, when RC crosses the dirt road (canyon emergency access) you hop on there for a short steep bit (0.2 miles I think) to get back to Holly's.
Or make everyone walk down Insurgent!

I believe moose puddle is still closed, big sign at the UOP access from near the Robs/Ambush intersection stating that it's closed over there. Ridge Connector>MM>Ambush>short climb to the bottom of insurgent/the lodge there at canyons>hollys down is your family friendly exit.

Insurgent is absolutely blown right now, walking down it would be a slip and slide, easier to ride it in its current condition

Yeah I wasn't being serious on that recommendation. I've seen people walk down it and it's not pretty. Ms Boissal insisted on walking one of the corners last year, ate shit hard, got on her bike and made it down fine while cursing my name the whole way...

The rocky stairstep left? I believe my partner and I had a similar experience.

That's the one! The names I was called on that ride...

In other news, the aspens have about wrapped it up at the top of canyon. There are some golden patches left but most trees are in the nude.

Still glorious out despite how dry and blown everything is. I almost got punished by a frozen patch on a N facing corner, no idea where the moisture came from to actually produce ice. Also, some knob decided to take down the bridge at the bottom of silver fork back door. The thing has been there in various iterations for as long as I can remember (not long, 5 seasons) and was clean and solid, now it's in the creek. The bigass tree supports where chainsawed through and most of the planks tossed in the water. You can easily walk across what's left, it's stable with a tiny bit of wobble at the end. Whoever decided to remove the bridge hasn't accomplished shit other other than dumping trash in the creek and making it look like crap. Guess we can't have nice things.
