Close the tram and put a booter up Rendevous bowl? I could see that being fun.

At this point I am just going to be happy if I get out of town without the corp telling me I can't.

    Random thoughts...

Business as usual in Steamboat for the most part. Still hordes of ppl coming to ski and then flood the restaurants/town after. Most of the town was sick back in late January, including myself with flu-like symptoms, chills, light fever, shortness of breath and a nasty cough. And I got a flu shot back in October. I wouldn't be surprised if it was covid-19.

This weekend will be a good test to see if we actually have a decrease in visitors or not, since Ikon/Alterra has fucked this place on the weekends for good otherwise. The 20-something spring break crowd will be here regardless come hell or high water to fuck shit up with their day drinking. Those Texans like to drive.

The resort put a notification on their website, stating how they've ramped up cleaning/disinfecting (something that should have been done a decade ago). Seriously though, why can't we be this anal about germs all the time anyway? Still...I bet the "janitors" (ie low-wage 20-somethings) will still use one rag to 'disinfect' an entire bathroom.

The store was out of hand soap yesterday. Where were all these hand washers before? It's gross to think about but also a great reminder of how shit spreads.

I live up by the hot springs and can see the road from my house. Traffic has not subsided, cars continually marching up the road so they can share germs in warm water that isn't chlorinated. The place is a zoo non-stop anymore. It's disgusting, and why I don't go there in the first place.

Hopeful things have died down by then. A few of our (small) "wedding" guests just bought tickets for peanuts.

Congrats! Should be fun. I had bought the extra miles I needed on a sale last month...glad I waited to actually book the tickets. Use those miles for next years trip!

Any info you have on Corsica would be awesome. We have 10 days total with 3 committed to the wedding in Luberon. Thinking maybe some time in Sardinia as well, but we are not big site seeers....mostly want some beaches, cool cafes, wine, food and places to hike/stroll around.

I thought this was a pretty well thought out response. Closing for the season would be a bit much. Outside of riding a Gondola/Tram, skiing seems like a pretty good activity during a pandemic versus things like concerts, sporting events, etc. I think it will certainly thin out the crowds a little, but hopefully enough people still come to support the servers, bar tenders, etc.

I did find it a bit humorous that a couple was quarantined in the Little Nell. Does their insurance pay for that? If I was going to be forced to stay in a hotel, I could think of worse places...maybe give me a balcony and a view?

I'd be surprised if they make it through ski season. Public buildings are closing, Crested Butte schools just closed... I'm guessing Aspen won't be far behind.

Really? Well the F'n Italians just let this sick women get on an airplane back to the states. She knew, her family knew and now everyone on that plane is probably infected. Talk about irresponsible actions! Travel BANS should have been put up originally.

Haven't planned much of Corsica yet. Debating where on the island to go. We're probably just going to kick it for 4-5 days near the water in a smaller town -- beaching, eating, wine-ing, bonking. Then spend a couple days on the GR20 with an overnight in one of the huts.

Or the flu. This years vaccine was supposed to be a bit less effective than some years.

Flying MCO-GVA now, pretty empty flight. Im guessing about 25% full, if that. Not affecting my ski plans. BBI or bust.

So that's what the inside of a commercial airliner looks like. How droll.
I'm assuming the mimosa fountain and walk-in humidor are aft, next to the stripper's berth.

Alterra and/or Vail Inc. has to step up and make a statement, now that they're such big shots. Open or closed.
