Ride concepts are making some great shoes, got the transition last year and it’s the sturdiest shoe I ever had, built tons of trail in them, hiked all over granite and they are holding up great. I’ve completely destroyed Perl Izumi trans alps in 1 1/2 months as a comparison.

That X-Alp Launch SPD might be just the ticket.

You could pedal to Starksboro>Fiddlehead>Foam and home without clacking around.

With Clipless shoes its even more important to have a great fit, I don't see how how you can get that on-line so order one of everything in 2 sizes and send it all back

So peruvio- Isn’t this for your road bike tour in Provence? Why not just get lightweight casual shoes to put in your jersey pocket? It’s what I’ve done. Mostly because I love the power transfer of my carbon road shoes but whatever.

I’m always afraid of leaving my bike unattended. Need a beater.

Thanks for all the feedback. Fellow mag optics hooked me up on a pair of Giro Privateers that will replace my Sidis when they finally fall apart.

For a more walk-friendly and casual look, check out the Giro Chamber2 if you're in the market again. Fairly stiff but have a nicely rockered sole and recessed cleat pocket. They walk nice and pedal great, and more importantly, they're bomber. They fit like a Giro, sounds like you know, they run a bit small and narrow. Good for a Sidi foot.
There's nothing better than sliding down snow, and flying through the air
