2020 Bike Racing on Dirt Thread

There was a women's WC DH thread but we needed a more generic one.

Nice. I live watching FWT in the winter, but it's not quite the same as bike racing. ~20 days until DH season kicks off in Lousa. Then EWS in Manizales the next weekend.

Kind of a bummer that DH and EWS are starting on opposite ends of the world. Probably means there won't be too many people doing both.

Looks like I'm in 2nd place in the DH league now! Probably won't see that number again once the racing starts......
However many are in a shit ton.

Shouldn't be a surprise - isn't EWS just for washed up downhillers and riders who don't have the balls to race real DH?

This is true. Although I saw something about Van Der Poel wanting to do some enduro racing, so maybe we can add top level xc guys to the list.

I dunno, that chute at Northstar makes some DH tracks look pretty tame by comparison

Kind of like bagging on the term “Enduro” or questioning whether it’s okay to wear goggles with a half shell. Pretty much played out and makes you sound like a D Bag.
It’s another way of doing it. Like it or don’t. Then move on.

This form of cycling has improved bikes immensely, for that I am thankful.

i won’t (maybe) let you down (probably)

I just find it hard to follow... lots of rider injuries, not racing in certain races/events but what the hell! Might have to dedicate more work time on studying up like i do with fantasy football...

That's a bummer. I would imagine Maribor and Losinj (1st and 2nd weekends in May) are in jeopardy too, since it seems like the disease is still ramping up in Europe. Could make for a pretty weird race season.

Yeah, all sporting events will be weird for the next bit. Heard a goal call from a soccer match this morning... just the announcer as no fans, so weird.

A bit sad to see Valnord get cancelled now. The earliest we could see a WC DH now is Mt. St Anne in (late) August. XC could come back a week or so earlier.

    Mt. 7 Psychosis bump!

The speed is insane. Almost equally insane is the lack of speed in places, gnar factor must be off the charts.

Deaddog is a task in the best of conditions. In dry blown out conditions or mud it takes a lot to convince you theres a turn waaaay down there and it can be made. That theme repeats itself a few more times to a lesser degree
