    day tour lunch ideas...

you can bring anything cuz you're not gone long or in particularly remote territory & you're not loaded up w/ extra gear-- what do you bring for lunch?

the days i bring PBJ, someone pulls out some delicious looking cured meat/cheese ploughman's platter or a grinder or a still-warm burrito & i'm jealous

it's still gotta be portable, but why not make it delicious? what's your favorite tour lunch?

(i don't want to hear about shot bloks & chicken broth, you lycra lovers)

    Simpleton here.

Leftover pizza, steak, chops or chicken. Pre pealed boiled eggs. Deli meats.

Lox bagel is a good one but the chance of getting fish stank on my clothes always makes me nervous. Bagel sandwich in general is good cuz it’s hard to crush.

Crackers and canned sardines, oysters etc... but again be careful of gettin the stank on yer clothes.

And of course cured meats and cheese.

I had a thread on this years ago but erased it like a moron in my “stand with baker bob” dumbshit phase.

If you really want to make others envious bring up the fixings for a nice mixed drink. Like a bloody with a bunch of fixings. But even gin and some olives will do the trick.

I often cook a pizza the night before. cut in 4 cover with hot sauce, fold in half and wrap in beeswax wraps. Good mix of fat/carbs/protein.

Can't go wrong with euro style hunk of dried meat, block of cheese, half a baguette, and some fresh fruit. Half a bottle of wine and a Swiss army knife for extra credit.

This is the winning lunch. I would bring a whole bottle of wine, though, because invariably the other fuckers on the tour "didn't think about it" and will wanna mooch your vino.

this is the best tour lunch IMO. i add in dried dates and nuts into it (they keep better than fresh fruit in your pack), but yeah, this is it right here.

when i go fancy i bring:
vacuum-sealed smoked trout, some toast with butter and some tea.
i feel like a king when doing my picnic.
a small binbag for the trash - no fish stank in my backpack.

Doesn't this belong in the sub-1Kg pack thread ;-)

Put me in for some dried meat and cheese, although I confess to typically only carrying an energy bar /Gu and a small zip lock with some almonds, raisins and sea salt.

Booze? Grateful I gave it up 25 years ago. Coffee dehydrates me enough.

Bacon, brie and jalapeno&berry jelly with toaster waffles for the "bread".
The waffles, like bagels are both tasty and impact resistant.

I Always bring a thermos of homemade soup. From salmon chowder to chicken noodle the salts act as electolites and the warmth is a nice touch when ur waiting for ur slowboarder buddy to change his gear over....

Agreed, but must add a jar of olives and a small container of honey.

Lately I’ve bringing a tupperware of homemade curry, or stir fry and quinoa. Throw some avocado and sriracha on there, maybe tortillas for the stir fry quinoa.
Nuts, dates, figs, and chocolate for snacks. Seems to work for steady power, and it can be cooked in bulk to load up each morning.

Thermos with soup, or chili. Can do smokies as well and bring fresh buns and fixings. But generally I still like to keep my pack as light as possible, so usually hot tea and a PB sandwich is as fancy as it gets.
