Haha. My friend was actually involved with this deal. Not the owner, but the owner of the land hired his financial group to secure investors, etc.

Was really hoping to get out there at some point but now that it's mostly a done deal he's no longer involved.

Several longtime YC members are jumping ship because it's "crowded". Seriously. Once they started all the Village Core stuff and the condos on Eglise OG members from when it was truly empty are bailing.

Thanks for this post, I am sick of Pioneer Mountain getting tracked out by powder posses lead by Gisselle, Oprah and Gatsie. What Oprah and crew do to the sugar shacks is also obscene.

The Y/C isn't about skiing. That is another amenity albeit a nice one.
It is about an exclusive and safe place for the zillionaires and their spawn to recreate and still feel like they are "locals".
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

    BLM land, eh?

I wonder if they'll be given the same level of scrutiny by the government and public as other recent ski areas on BLM land.

They have been taking out 1/2 page ads in the Jackson paper all winter. Not a good sign they couldn't spring for the full.

    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Yes I agree it is way to crowded in my opinion. Everyone wants to go to Yellowstone.

I’m not sure this would be such a great thing, even if you had money to burn.

You will essentially be in a Homeowners Association with 12 other rich egomaniacs, their trophy wives and entitled brat kids. A small group so chance for interpersonal drama is high. People gonna get bent about Architectural Review Board decisions, the need for more, or fewer, terrain park features, about how Biff always gets first tracks in the best terrain, and why Buffy’s brat kid keeps doing a falling-leaf down the middle of all the steep stuff. Trophy wives will be fucking not-their-husbands and the help.

And the cost to exit this island is really high, and not very liquid.

Wonder what the HOA fees will be?

I wonder what the tax bill is per property.

At least no one will (likely) steal all the rental skis.

Each billionaire needs a huge support staff.

Anyone who 'needs' a support staff is a total Douchebag .

Once they are in... they tell everyone , who has been there for decades ,what to do .

Next they Lobby local officials for special perks.

Then they Develop the area and make it more crowded.

I always saw Y/C having plenty of real skiers. They don't care about the scene at Aspen or Vail or being spotted spending money, they just want to ski and have some elbow room when they do. When I skied there I asked a few what their background was, because some of them ripped, and one said 'Dartmouth Ski Team'. Others said they were on east coast ski teams, and their kids were getting freeskiing lessons from my friends working there. if they didn't ski, why would they endure the cold of a MT winter and being isolated?

I'm sure there are plenty who don't care of skiing, sure. You recently spend time skiing there? It's been awhile for me.

No doubt some genius accountant structured the whole thing to zero. Rich people always aspire to zero. Or, it's included in the 62k, like a NY co-op.

Plus, they are connected to Big Sky, duh, making for a massive really good ski area at their doorstep.
