Ya'll put on a good one! It was a hell of an event. I wish I had been able to participate during the day but I had to work so I only made it to the afterparty which was a hoot. Too bad the liquor and long work week caught up to me and I bailed at midnight. Next time I'm riding all day!

Curious if Buster or anyone else can comment on the typical availability of getting a standby guided day in Mid March next year?

Was thinking that the unguided season pass + powder upgrade for half price standby days is a much better deal than paying for a 4 guided days at "retail" but don't want to end up skiing Silverton for the first time next year unguided. If the chances of getting to jump in a group on the "standby guided" option are pretty good I'm going to pull the trigger and buy the unguided season pass + upgrade but, if, otoh, it's rare to be able to jump in a group via the standby guided option I may need to reevaluate.

    Thoughts?

February is the busy month and March is usually a slight step down in busyness.

One key in getting a standby is to plan for either Thursdays or Sundays, each of which are also a little less busy due to them being travel days for Front Rangers and Albuquerquios/Santa Feans.
The other important factor is to call or email, be nice and respectful to the office folks and ask to be put on a standby list. If you help them, they'll help you. Be low key and helpful and doors open.

Got a decent skiff of snow Monday and it's snowing lightly now with 1-3" predicted for town tonight, so this weekend should be good.

    Currently dumping in Silverton.

Last week was a blast, ripping around with the best team in skiing.

Rolling to Taos shortly, back to Silverton Wednesday night.

Had a great day there on Friday. It wasn’t stupid deep, but we had fresh tracks all day. Eli was our guide and took good care of us. The crowd was very light as well even by Silverton standards

Glad to hear you'll be rolling back into town Buster. It's been snowing non-stop for almost two days now. Silverton should be pretty good come Thursday!

The Brill Resort and Spa delivered today with the Rotor Wash Exfoliation treatment and the Hiking Above 12,500 feet of Elevation Weight Loss Program all the while basking in the solar radiance of the tanning ridges.
Bottomless blower was served al fresco from both the helicopter as well as the chairlift and bootpacks. Some wheezing and old man noises emanated above 12,500 feet, but was quickly assuaged by multiple face shots and copious spindrift.

Reservations are still available as new coatings of 5% snow are in the pipeline for the end of this week and next.

Epic pow farming in that photo. I've been spoken to by guides for my inability to keep it tight like a skier does

The Silverton bus driver rivals any ski dj with Cream (I feel Free, Sunshine of Your Love) and live Dead as well as Delaney and Bonney, Blind Faith, Traffic, Johnny Cash among others.

Another storm cycle starts Tuesday, so it looks like I'm stuck here for another week.

Yup. It's been off the hook, still skiing untracked bottomless in Cabin, Delores, Dead Elk, 100 Acre Woods and Splitski.
If the forecast holds, next week will be even better.

    Today was killer,
Both passes closed, ridiculous amounts of snow (16"+) huDge winds.

Chair went on wind hold for an hour.

Skied quiet, bottomless pow in the trees, less than 20 people on the hill.

    All time.

Big winds blew last night, so the frontsides has some sweet buff in the guts and the Corner Pocket/TonyT were butt deep.

The North side (RMYF, Dolores, Colorado) held the softest, deepest goods.

There's a window between the storms and it's time for me to start rolling home.
I can't say enough stupendous things about the team here and what amazing work they do.

I guess I've never really been close to the inner workings of any other ski area, but if they're anything like the Silverton team, stop and extend a hand of thanks and appreciation for what they do.

Thanks to an incredible team: Fabio, 88, Grady, Emma, Blair, Gabby, Adam, Kim, Skyler (I'll get you back asshole), Coulter, Krysta, RobRoof, Dustin, Calvin, Caleb, Stillwell, Robbie (yes, I'm the asshole with the stupid hat), Cam, Doug, Evan, Kurt, Eli, Owen, Danielle, Hilary, Maggie, Chris, Joe, Jake (where's my pictures), Ryan, Owen and everyone one else my Alzheimers blocked. The changing structure, the work, the love and the madness; you fuckers r00l.

It was Snow Basin, Solitude, Snowbird, Silverton (4), Taos (2), Silverton (4) and ending with the last 2 days of over the moon deep blower pow, respect, friendship and a raging great time. Now back through Ogden, Snow basin and Jackson if the weather allows.

(edit) If you're considering going to Silverton, go. Coverage is as good as it ever gets and the powderhose is focused on the San Juans big time for the next few weeks at least.
