Looking ridiculous would be fun, but that run is not long or steep enough for your outfit to matter more than form and MAYBE some liquid rub on at the start.
My local has some long flat spots. Shit, 1 of them kinda goes uphill. Aerodynamics matter a little. And not a stupid gaper tuck with your poles under your armpits. A real tuck.

A really good tune with fast wax is going to be critical for a course like that. Wax will make or break you across that middle flat.

Having grown up racing I can definitively say a suit is essential. I had a while, maybe 1990ish where I was between the Mahre brothers style padded spyder slalom pants + padded sweater phase and borrowing a suit from a teammate and the difference was huge. It’s an adjustment to suddenly ski without all that drag. I think any racer will tell you it’s shocking how much more speed you have without clothes drag.

They used to have this dh and the mogul comp on the same day...boner city. It was all very synergistic with the whole emerging freeride scene full of downhillers and bumpers.

I'm a little late to the party, Descente, size 52, a bit stretched out in the crotch. Also Beyond X, padded sleeve/shoulder undershirt. Free plus shipping from St. Paul, MN.

    Singlecross: what’s your timeline like?

Tonight the MRRs went in a box and the Javs got a pair of modern comp 20s. Those MRRs scared me...I couldn’t get the toe to move at all at the lowest setting, at least the comp 20s will move a bit if you reef on them at DIN 11.

IAS...My timeline is very open. I, like you gave my suit away years ago but would like to have one again in the closet for potential beer league participation. No hurry or worries.

Let me attempt to put on that Spyder. If it's Chris Farley style, I'll send it off to you and try that 52. If not, I'll let you guys know and get that 52 moving toward you?

If you say it makes that big a difference, then fine. But shouldn't your hands be higher?

Best thread in a long time. Go yeti man!

And tgr should totally cover this with 80s Rocky style synth music or eye of the tiger training sessions....

This has really got me chucklin'!!!

As if you need a high din, I bet you couldn't kick a shoe on 11 while on course if you tried.

This race would be better suited if you got 1 DIN for each 50 lbs. you weigh.

The demo derby at JH pits shop techs in a Chinese downhill from the summit on demo skis turned waaaay down. It's funny and impressive all at once.

Are we gonna get some POV video?

Wtf are you talking about? That shot from 1992? The gopro from the other day?

If it’s 1992, I’ll tell my now-70-year-old former coach he dun fucked me over.
If it’s the gopro that was on top of my helmet... I kinda don’t want my hands up by my forehead. When I tuck it’s just a normal correct tuck.

Don’t tempt me to get to 400lbs. I live between a donut shop and a brewery.

2 things, I have walked out of 11 running choppy chatter-ice GS...so I dunno, that could happen again I guess. Generally I ski around at 11ish and never prerelease. That aside, I pulled those old 12-24 MRRs because I don’t think those toes release at all. I’ve reefed on those things hard with the adjustment backed all the way down and couldn’t get them to even show any elasticity, so I worry about the off chance that I fuck up and need a toe release. The comp 20s are way newer and at least show some elastic travel when I bench test them....and importantly they’re what I have around, so free, and no hole conflicts. Don’t need din 20 though, thankyouverymuch...at least not until I’m 1000 lbs.

Yeah, I'm doing it wrong. But sometimes you can see the hands more at nose level and you can hear/see it change the airflow.

This thread has reached the point of taking it to the wind tunnel for answers. Will a treadmill be involved?

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

What would we do with a badger?

Also, I cannot imagine a better use of a drone follow cam.

When is this race going to be held and has TGR confirmed a film crew or will they accept and include some of the GoPro footage for their 2021 movie?

First, apply an array of cold cuts, preferably Oscar Meyer or Usinger (if you're feeling flush) across all portions of your skin. Turkey tends to be a little less greasy, and too much pork can whittle down your self confidence. Locally sourced moose or deer jerky might provide protection in all the right places. And of course you owe the meatstream of America a few plates of appropriately placed beef.

Next, with an industrial sized roll of cellophane, begin wrapping torso, crotch and eventually your legs and arms in order to hold the cold cuts in place. Seal the ends with sufficient lengths of duct tape and you're really to slide.

Take pictures and be sure to update Mr. Tartsnatcher on your IG feed.
