Planning on taking a few conservative friends to ski lines on this western ridge off of Taylor Mountain. Toriano's Book suggests ascending Hungry Spur by following the east fork of the Hungry Creek .4 miles before crossing northwest to the toe of the spur. However, by my calculations .4 miles brings you well beyond the toe of the spur. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks.
Next year's plan for this area is to set up a basecamp on the northwest ridge at about 8500' to ski some appealing terrain on the west side of Taylor. One idea I have is to follow the Talbolt/squaw (new name?) ridge onto Taylor and then ski back the way we came. CalTopo suggests a route through the cliff bands on the west side but I would love to hear from someone who has done it.
Talking about this now as a distraction.
