Depends on how much and where you ski.

This thread is amazing. Sweat, dollars, pow, time, access...lot of different currencies people are mingling.

Guess what, it was 70F in Denver last week, everyone stayed in the Front Range. Now it's a super gnar sick storm weekend and everyone MUST go skiing!
Yuppies Paying up, too , is killing some aspects of Skiing. LCC is so packed, I passed on a pass this season, .. they added more busses (supposedly) but there are still FAR To Few parking spots at the Bus stops. lol.. So day tickets are up to 115$ + at places I used to pay 56$ only 15 years ago>>> I sure don't make 55%-100% more income in that time.

F'kn Yuppies pay up for everything...and have no concept on smart shopping tactics .

If you actually believe the framers of the constitution meant that there would be no social stratification in America then you are truly delusional

Tram line this afternoon at the bird.

Pretty sad these days when the busiest ski weekends of the year are now the quietest weekends thanks to ikonic blackouts.

Got first chair on Pali at A-basin yesterday (Saturday) on accident. Skied from my free parking spot in the early riser lot to Pali around 8:10 because I didn't have any more coffee to drink. Loaded first just before 8:30. It was a bluebird day. Sure, not a "powder day" but last Saturday (day of massive Vail lines that made the news) we showed up at 8:15 and almost didn't get a parking spot anywhere, and skipped a massive pali line because of the 100 year snow storm Summit got. (MORE THAN FOUR FEET IN FOR DAYS, OH MY GAWD WHERE ARE MY POW-SKIS!) That's the only "crowd" we've seen in 5 weeks at A-Basin, and there is plenty of great terrain and skiing there, especially for summit county :

Skiing is supposed to be fun and the price of entry to skiing is absurd, truly absurd if you're trying to get kids/family on skis. If you're funding your own skiing pursuits then STFU as you're able to enjoy cheap passes, amazing skis/bind/gear and cheap outerwear because so many "fucking yuppies form the big cities love to take pictures of themselves skiing". I'd also venture to say that a good number of mags got hooked skiing because our parents dropped a few weeks pay to take us skiing one week or the year and/or committed lots of time and money to going skiing as a family locally. Be glad that more people are getting exposed to skiing and the gear and the sport will advance faster because of it.

Don't forget, you can always go tele and then everyone will know you're a purist and we're all just posers getting in your way...free your heel and the rest will follow.

I'm sure the 3" of snow they received over the last week had nothing to do with it.....

Didn't the Declaration of Independence say something about certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, not affordable opportunity?

As far as blackouts go, I think those that promote them should be the first to experience them.

The reason you need a beacon to ride that lift is if the shit hits the fan
they want to not have to ski over your dead body the rest of the season
or chopper in back hoes to do a excavation in multiple feat of debris searching for bodies

If I wanted to I could buy a lower level pass that includes blackouts. I choose not to do that.

How about raising the price of an IKON pass to the same price $ 1550.00 and then lets see it the problems with overcrowding on big days continues?

    That guy was a douche.

BB does participate in certain pass aggregation programs, for example, a Loveland Season Pass gets you 3 days free at BB.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Visited the Alf Engen Ski Museum yesterday at the Olympic Training Center in Park City. A good thing to do on an off day. Anyhoo, the "Father of Utah Skiing" Joe Quinney strived to ensure skiing "was not a rich man's sport." And Alf Engen always liked to remind people in the lift line that "We are the luckiest people in the world."

Just some thoughts to keep in mind. Go out and have some fun. If you can't find it at the resorts, then learn to backcountry or do something else that puts a smile on your face.

Bonus photo of Alan Engen (Alf's son) slaying the Alta pow
