    It's totally normal.
My standard position for a month was laying on sofa with bad leg up on the backrest. Could manage about 10 minutes at a time in sitting position before my toes blew up. Add to that the random stingers in the ankle while nerves reattached and I was not a happy guy.

    Hang in there

I tore my Achilles in 2012. Went the no surgery route.

Other than reduced calf size that never came back, I fully recovered from that injury.

I also had major knee damage and subsequent surgery in 2017. I used a cryo cuff after injury, and more importantly after surgery... I had it on 24/7 (other than in the shower) for about 3 months. It's the best thing I found to manage pain and swelling without taking handfuls of pills.

You'll need the ankle specific cuff, and the part that looks like a drink cooler with a hose.

I still use mine on my knee from time to time when it's feeling shitty.

I wish I had known about this device for the Achilles.

Edit: just saw you replied in my old thread and you have the cryo cuff /air cast... nice.

I’m on day 3 post-op for Achilles. They’ve kept me in hospital until now. Foot in boot at 30 deg angle. I can put 15 kg on it.

    Damn dude, that sounds brutal.
Just got out of my post op consultation. Stitches removed into my Aircast. Surgeon says everything looks great still four more weeks non weight-bearing. He was actually impressed with the healing of the incision and the lack of swelling.

    Update:
Released for walking now with my aircast on. Feels good to be somewhat mobile. Doc said the recovery is looking great and could not believe the strength I had in the strength tests. Start PT Monday.
Walking in the aircast is a pain in the ass as it’s higher than my right foot. Looking into some hiking boots to help level out my stance. Went a little crazy doing things yesterday and now I’m pretty sore today.
