time sensitive - breaking trail in 3' of fresh DPS 112RPC vs. Black Crow Nocta
Both 186cms. Bindings essentially same weight. The DPS's are the Pure 3 carbons.
Haven't broken much trail with the Black Crows period. Broken a fair bit with the DPS's but not too often (or too long) in a metre of fresh. Help, for the love of god, please help.
edit - (incl bindings) weight of DPS's 4.8kg (10.58lbs)
Black Crows 4.61kg (10.16lbs)“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

DPS Wailer = Cool 6 years ago.
BC Nocta = So trendy right now.
Choice seems obvious.

As long as you ain't riding on my damned tails asking me to hurry up I got no problems breaking trail. If I can hear your huffing and puffing I'll move aside and you break. I'm cool with a mellow pace for sure.
I am a burst hiker, short fast spurts and short 30sec to 1 min breaks depending on steepness. Long legs too. I get ahead and while I'm resting partners catch up. Repeat.

are the bindings the same?
if not, use the pair with the higher heel lifter.
Not to go steeper ( which takes discipline) but the higher lift will get your tip out of the snow more/easier

Refer to the lotus138 thread....

There is no need to choose. Just modify each pair with whatever they need. Tip xtenderz, tail xtenderz or both at the same time.
The weapons of choice for the bottomless slop today: 3 cms of tail xtension. Happy place.
Master of mediocrity.

A lot of ego's on the skin track but try taking 50 really hard steps & move over to catch the back of the peloton , the next guy takes 50 really hard steps & move over to catch the back of the peloton , so everyone alternates a turn at the front
its faster, uses less energy and everyone arrives at the same time for a better group dynamicLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

No you have to say to the rest of the group " lets try this cuz it will be faster " and they will look at you like you are trying to feed them liver
50 paces is just a suggestion so one could go longer or shorter, BUT if you switch out more often the whole group is working to get the whole group up faster with less effort, more communication and more group dynamic
Now if you got a guide forget this idea cuz its his job to break trail all dayLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

So why isn't a 100g/foot enough to make a choice for you?

I decided on the Noctas. In fact I've been skiing most days on the Noctas cause they're so damn much fun. They broke trail fine, and it really came down to the 200g per foot weight savings. The DPS had a bit more early rise but it wasn't much IMHO. I did get a great chuckle out of your responses to my panic reachout.
TAFKLS, we really should have stopped the thread there. Everything else was superflous. Thanks.
Fuck, I laughed. Great start in my quest for info on this topic...
hahaha
Well played boxcars, but I figured at some point during the trip I'd be breaking trail.
I chose this as the winning post. Succint and made me howl. Until I remembered I have a friend who does shit like that all the time.
Yeah, I know right. Turns out the heel lift height was the same.
Yes of course Swissone. See post referring to you 12 inches above this text.
Fair question Rideski. Swissific cuts whatever the fuck he feels like on those tail extenderz man.
No snowmo that trip. And the Noctas are a little fatter (7mm), but the DPS's have more early rise so they both ski pretty good in the deep. Gotta give the nod to the Noctas though.
Turns out it was treeskier.
Not so funny now stucky. Now that WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!
