Responding to a few questions a page or two back that I didn’t notice had responses:

The worldometer web site has data collected and tables that make it easy to compare countries, eg sweden fatality per 1M versus Norway.

Healthdata.org had the mortality projections through early August.

Also, healthdata.org site forecasts that Sweden may be reaching hospital capacities in early May (next week).

It came via Italy because of the wuhan to rome direct flight. Given what we know about asymptomatic properties and high transmission rate, it likely was on the next flight to NYC the same day.

Which does seem quite dubious just now, despite trending up for a little while already. As of today's update the last numbers that aren't "projected" are two days old. They've been assuming a downward bend in the curve that hasn't shown up. Unless current totals get revised backward into the last couple of weeks their August 4 estimate is going up.

Also true, but not so funny, is that people are capable of making themselves sick simply by believing they may have been exposed to an illness. I think this is reason enough to wear a mask in stores and such, I do it to comfort the minds of others, I don't want to put a stumbling block in front of those that will worry themselves sick.

Edit: this is not a suggestion that there isn't a real pandemic, only that wearing a mask can help prevent hysterical illness in the climate the pandemic has created.

Sweden’s per capita death toll is about 6-10x higher than similar countries that locked down.

Ex: 2200+ deaths in Sweden (10M pop.) vs. ~220 in Norway.

Some may say that’s acceptable. . Some would not.

Bitch, I disclosed my visitors — I wrote a whole damned chapter called “Visitors.” Can’t blame me if some debutante from Darien didn’t read it. And who’s entertaining visitors now? Not your quarantined ass.
