Yeah that's been on my mind too. All those who have died of Covid who might have been saved with the treatment he is getting. Heck... all those who might have been saved if he'd just issued a national mask mandate from day one.

Chris Christie has checked himself into the hospital. Smart move, but you'd think he'd have realized he's to covid like honey is to a bee and worn a mask.

In consultation with my doctors, I checked myself into Morristown Medical Center this afternoon. While I am feeling good and only have mild symptoms, due to my history of asthma we decided this is an important precautionary measure.

I was just thinking the same thing. There are thousands of stories of people told to go home, from the Er who were exhibiting severe respiratory problems, or very high fevers. Basically told there is nothing the hospital can do for them.

He'll close the bridges to the hospital to keep a bed open in the ICU if he has to.

On of the revelations of the tax releases last week: The Trump businesses that he was involved with did poorly, the ones he was not involved with did better. So the administration will probably be much more efficient for the next 14 days. Given some of their policy objectives, that sucks.

The videos of Republicans hugging, shaking hands, talking in each others faces at the Barrett announcement are shocking--the kind of stuff you expect from drunk college students. The dogma is to pretend that there is no pandemic. I'm sure there are Democrats and Democratic Socialists and Libertarians and Independents doing the same stuff. If our "leaders" are this clueless it's hard to get too angry at Karen and Chad.

I know we're all supposed to wish Trump well and hope he recovers but I can't feel that way about a man who embraces the ideology that murdered some of my family members.

As terrible as it sounds, a part of me wants to see him on a ventilator. That would be some quintessential poetic justice. It'd also be kinda neat to tell the grandkids about in 50 years if, god forbid, our sorry species still exists.

One thing to remember about the info the public is hearing --the docs legally can only release what the patient or, if the patient isn't able to consent, the next of kin allows. Non doctors are under no such constraints.
Dr Conley is an ER doc with a specialty in trauma (chief of trauma in Afghanistan at one point)--he's acting as spokesman but probably isn't involved in his care.

One other thing--VIP patients don't necessarily get the best care. There is a tendency to overtreat them and OTOH to not subject them to painful or embarrassing procedures or ask them embarrassing questions when it's necessary.

    Great points.

Something that we all need to keep in mind anytime you see an article in the media where someone claims mistreatment by a doctor/hospital (“I waited 12 hours in the ER and they gave me the wrong pills and now I’ve sued them!”) and the doctor/hospital says “no comment”. That’s not because they are definitely guilty...it’s because they can’t say a word even if the other person is outright lying.

I'm still hearing how everyone has a "friend" or relative that went to get tested, couldn't wait the long line and left before getting tested just to be called up by the lab days later to inform them that they tested positive. I've heard it from 4-5 people now with No relations. All conservatives. I don't know what to make of it psychologically, But assume it's % bullshit to drive their narrative

Coronavirus fact check: Do people get positive test letters when not tested?

Facebook Tall Tale About Fake Positive COVID-19 Results is Untrue. So Far.

‘That scenario is nonsense.' No proof exists for rumors about positive COVID results with no actual tests

COVID-19 Q&A: Do people really get letters saying they're sick even if they never took the test?

Just blows my mind that people are willing to repeat this and attribute it to close friends or family. Just admit that you read it on the internet.

I guess lying and fabrication doesn't hold the same shame and dishonor in the day of trump

This is my favorite part of the article.

Meanwhile, America’s closest allies are entertaining wild scenarios as well. An outside White House adviser told me that a high-level government official from a G-7 country asked him if Trump would try to appoint Ivanka president instead of Mike Pence. “He’s broken every norm so far, so they think anything is possible,” the source said.

I still prefer to see him in prison til the end days. I’d almost feel cheated if the rona got him. But it would make a karmic ending, so I am conflicted.
