If only we lived in a society where saying such idiotic things would lead to actual social consequences. Too bad she'll just continue to gain followers and an audience.

Maybe we could trade the situation when one is immediately canceled from their professional lives because a woman tells a press outlet that that particular man asked them if they wanted to have sex together.

Friend sent me videos of Miami these days, with indoor night clubs bursting at the seams with younger people jammed in, dancing, no masks, nothing. How is FL not worse off than it is? Or maybe we’re the idiots and Florida is right?

Yeah, and I’m guessing when it gets super hot soon in FL and TX, we’ll see a surge. Unless they’re both closer to herd immunity because so many have been exposed over the past year.

Spring break was almost 2 months ago and no real increase in either state. Very odd.

In his new book, Michael Lewis profiles people who tried to sound the alarm about COVID-19 as officials failed to act.

    60 Minutes Segment 05/02/21

Very interesting piece, plus there's a Red Dawn tie-in!

Perhaps the bigger question is how much should we trust Florida's reporting. I'm very confident that DeSantis will do all he can to paint a rosy picture.

The complicated and potential tragic story of improving indoor air quality, especially in schools. Where air purifiers may result in more harm (eg increased O3) than good or do not good at all.

The best piece I've read to date about the origin of the virus. Of particular interest is the discussion on the furin cleavage site. Has my eyebrows raised.

    From the article:

...comparing "the string of nearly 30,000 nucleotides in its genome with those of its cousin coronaviruses, of which the closest so far known is one called RaTG13."

I think we've come full circle.

    Fascinating.

I have been kind of hoping this was a lab-created human mistake, because it then sorta means to me that this is less likely to happen again. Provided that lab learns from its mistakes, of course.

Flip side is that the lab learns a different lesson from it's mistakes and weaponizes it. I don't know if that article is just another 'Loose Change' type thing or not. It sort of had that vibe to it. However, a lab accident is a plausible scenario and often times the appearance of a conspiracy is just evidence of incompetence.

I hereby publicly apologize to Mr. D Trump, mtt, montucky and the others for thinking this artificial creation idea was a weirdo conspiracy theory.

Interesting article, but it should be pointed out that medium dot com has also run articles claiming the singers in ABBA are the result of a secret Nazi breeding experiment.

I get it, but I wouldn't have posted it if there wasn't some merit to the piece. The author did a really nice job. Closest to a smoking gun that I've seen.
