Fear and Loathing, a Rat Flu Odyssey
They’re pretty good, but not 100% accurate, of course. It sounds like the only tool that you reasonably have available. Most of my family will be using them as (expensive) “day passes” this coming weekend. Other family have had close contact exposures and they’ll be using pcr and rapid tests for themselves. They live in an area where pcr tests are readily available and have a one day turn around. A friend cancelled thanksgiving after 6 hrs of driving due to a false positive from rapid tests.
I found this topol thread useful. https://twitter.com/erictopol/status...475597826?s=21
Mina chimed in to state: “Certainly. Tests of all types: PCR and RAPID Ag tell you "am I positive now"
Rapid Tells you "Am I infectious now"
PCR tells you "Do I have RNA in me, even if I was infectious weeks ago or will be infectious or could I become infectious tomorrow"”
Here’s the graphic that topol posted:

Based on the photos friends are sharing this week it seems most have just decided to risk it hoping being fully vaxxed keeps the damage low. There's gonna be tons of breakthrough infections out there.. But, unless you are high risk, immune compromised it's now seen as similar risk to seasonal flu for impact after fully vaxxed. I'm good with that, masked in public indoor places where vax status of others is questionable.
But, if there was anyone at all immune compromised in my circles.. I'd be a definite NO to these family gatherings or rec activities where being fully masked 100% of the time around others isn't going to happen.Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

That's cool. At my better half's hospital there are 40 new cases on staff and the public line to get tested is hours long. Gonna be a complete clustershitshow the next couple of weeks.

I recently went to lovely Corpus Christi Texas. Thankfully I was wearing a mask to protect myself from all the cigarette smoke.

I drink chlorine dioxide all the time when I'm backpacking. It is an effective water treatment for viruses and bacteria, works for amoebae as well but takes a while. Doesn't work quite as well for respiratory-spread of viruses. So this is a good example of how being half an idiot is worse than being a complete idiot.

I"m not too overly concerned about covid and all this shit because I have my own personal issues to deal with
but yeah, outside of my normal circle of trust, you won't catch me in a public place in breckenridge for the next two weeks
I'm driving to lakewood to go grocery shopping
seriously
I'm now concerned
