No disagreeing here, only time (and hundreds of researches) will tell that. This binary approach will actually be beneficial in the long run.
In a weird way the relatively benign nature of Covfefe-19 could be considered as a "test run" for the future pandemics. How to contain them and with what methods, expediting virus research, rethinking national stockpiles and the underlying infra, building social cohesion how to behave under national duress, reconsider legislation et al.

The floggings will continue until morale improves.

I believe there was a playbook already established for all that and it was resoundingly ignored.

It may not take 18-24 months. If Sweden enacts more restrictive measures in the short term then that's a referendum negating debased's so called "herd immunity" policy.

From the NY Times, A ‘Liberty’ Rebellion in Idaho Threatens to Undermine Coronavirus Orders

Ammon Bundy, the man who once led an armed takeover of an Oregon wildlife refuge, said a group in the Boise area was looking for a venue to host an Easter service this coming weekend with a potential crowd of 1,000 people.

State Representative Heather Scott, a Republican from Blanchard, northwest of Coeur d’Alene, is encouraging her constituents to push back on the statewide stay-at-home order, saying people have “a God-given constitutionally protected right to peacefully assemble.”

Very optimistic of you. All I see in a few years is a more broken society with the rich figuring out ways to shelter themselves from future shitshows and the rest of us fearful and fighting each other to survive.
I mean, the saddest story I've read recently is hospitals cutting the salaries of emergency room doctors due to lack of revenue from elective visits. Holy crap. We're a failed society, and we just gave the elite oligarchs a half trillion dollars to do whatever they want with it, and Donald Fuckin Trump is the guy who has the key to that petty cash drawer. And his presumed opponent, somebody who should be telling us about his plans for our future in a very loud and strong way, (which is how you beat an incumbent) is a nearly 80 year old cognitively impaired machine politician who's only plan is bring us all BACK to 1978. Sad.

Fuck this guy. I hope the authorities paint ball each attendee in the chest and the local docs refuse to treat anyone with a paintball mark in the future. So ridiculous this guy gets a by for all the bullshit he pulls. And Heather Scott is a sexist, racist, tin foil wearing skank that has links to domestic terrorism. Wish I was joking.

He should've used the tools of the presidency to ramp up production of testing kits. then he should've isolated all arrivals from China, since he didn't really shut down travel, to come into one or two airports. Everyone that came in from China should've been tested and forced into quarantine for two weeks or until their test came back negative.

Instead he effectively did nothing. People have died because of his inaction.

The list of things that should have been done to prepare during the ten weeks President Trump insisted the coronavirus was a harmless flu is too long for one post. The point is the so called China travel ban wasn't actually a travel ban, it was a performative gesture.

Yeah, and according to China and the WHO back in December, they were also saying that COVID-19 couldn't go human to human either, yet here we are. We can't put anything outside the realm of possibility any longer.

“The W.H.O. really blew it. For some reason, funded largely by the United States, yet very China centric. We will be giving that a good look. Fortunately I rejected their advice on keeping our borders open to China early on. Why did they give us such a faulty recommendation?” he tweeted.

The article ends with... Mr. Remington said he was hoping that more Idahoans would decide to stand up for their rights. “Whatever happened to ‘Give me liberty or give me death’?”

Tim Remington appears to be well acquainted with his local healthcare providers who have helped him previously avoid death...

Let 'em -- and get those MAGA cult sheep rallies going again too -- then mass quarantine the idiots afterwards. We'll see how that god's will thing works out for 'em.

It is so funny that when someone says anything EXCEPT blind hatred and name calling about Trump, many of you brand them a Trump supporter and an idiot.

The guy is the president of the US. None of you could of accomplished that. Saying the guy has failed at EVERY SINGLE THING in his life is just stupid and blind hate.
