The U.S. government proclamation initiating the ban targets 26 European countries that comprise a visa-free travel zone known as the Schengen Area.

The United Kingdom, which is home to Trump Turnberry and Trump International Golf Links, and Ireland, which is home to another Trump-branded hotel and golf course at Doonbeg, do not participate in the Schengen Area

I haven't heard this anti nationalized health care argument yet, but this guy shuts it down.

Because more testing means more positive tests that means more bad numbers for Trump.

Or, If you don't test people, no one will die from Covid-19, statistically.

University of Miami is currently on spring break. This morning, I received an e-mail that the break has been extended one week until March 22, and that the campus will be closed until at least April 3. Classes between 03/22-04/03 will be on-line only. This hurts my son particularly, because many of his classes are music ensembles, which require playing music together. ARRRRGH!

The level of people I’m hearing today actively rooting for more chaos in the healthcare system and economy, so they can either say I told you so, blame political party ___, or they just thrive on bad news, is disturbing.

    Shadenfreude on another level.

Didn't see the cruise ship from the BART on the way home yesterday.
Saw lots of people touching their faces though.
    No longer stuck.

Yeah, my kids school went to all online, but they're still allowing lab and studio courses to meet...which he needs...to graduate in a couple months. If they pull the plug on that it's going to be ugly.

After UVM announced they are going online for the rest of the semester the local news interviewed some students. A senior bio major wasn't overly optimistic when he questioned the importance of lab work in his classes and how that would play out.

Daughter's PA classes go online after spring break. Not sure what they are going to do about starting hospital rotations.

Just got an email from the federal courts. If you have a fever, runny nose, coughing, etc. call and they will reschedule hearings.

Darling daughter's college wants everyone gone as soon as their finals are over, monday at the latest. They still haven't made up their minds on extending spring break or if they're even going to let the kids back for spring quarter.

Anyone in NH/Vermont have a barn or pasture where she can park her car for unforseen amount of time?

We emailed our kids schools last night saying that we were keeping our kids home, and the principal of the elementary school called this morning and said he thinks this is the right decision, and he feels like they should have already closed the schools, but it's not his call, but hopefully they will announce tomorrow that they are all closing. Aaannndddd...it's gonna rain tomorrow.

I'm hoping that the MBAs at Vail and Alterra dont shut down their hills before or when I drive out west next week, but, it would make perfectly good business sense, since the season will effectively be over by then. Save them a lot of money in hard times.

US does not have a system in place to test like foreign countries, lawmakers told
    From CNN's Manu Raju
Several members emerged from a House briefing on the coronavirus pandemic saying that they were told that tests would increase — but that the briefers acknowledged that the US system is trying to catch up to other countries like South Korea.

“I don’t think anyone is going to leave that briefing satisfied with what’s going on with testing right now," Democrat Rep. Mike Quigley said. "Bottom line, you leave that briefing and we are not where we need to be and not sure when we are going to get there. We are flying blind.”
He added: “I think the first thing they said was we don’t have a system that works like it does in other countries to adequately test at this time."

Rep. Jan Schawkowsky said that they were told 7,300 tests have been conducted by the public sector and 3,800 tests by private labs.

“I think everyone leaving that briefing is feeling more confused than ever and disappointed in the numbers that we heard — that we really don’t have a system that tests are being distributed and tests are being given,” Schakowsky said

Only 11,100 tests conducted so far across a country of 325+ million. Unreal. No wonder why they have classified internal discussions as top secret. The level of incompetence here is mind boggling.
