Somewhere not socialist I hope because that seems to be their #1 or #2 fear. Even though they have no idea what it means.

I was about to give you props for a very funny post but unfortunately I copied the Russian text into google hoping to translate and now I realize you just ripped this off from Twitter.

Therefore no kudos for you, comrade.

The Covid 19 commission report is going to be mind blowing. I hope we're all around in a few years to read it.

Which is funny, because I have only made one post on Twitter in like, 2010

I am definitely not clever enough to have come up with that!

Should have said AI am in the Southern Hemisphere. And I will get it again, next March. Point is, with masks and all, I heard of nobody who got the flu. Usually in winter, Santiago hospitals are overwhelmed with flu-related respiratory problems ( incl. many small children). Not so at all this year, and I heard of no COVID- normal flu complications.

Oops, sorry. Didn't notice your location. Makes sense now.

I've wonder about masks keeping the flu down too. I for one will be happy that people are wearing masks. Years past when we've had bad flu seasons I would have like to have worn one but didn't because I didn't want to seem like a nutter over "just the flu" but this year I'll fit right in. LOL!!!

Since we aren't getting off politics I'll throw this in. Interesting interview I read. Trump's saying outrageous offensive things is what the subject of the interview calls costly signaling. Like having a gang tattoo or your girlfriend's name tattoo--it signals your commitment to the the base or the gang or the gf by making you unacceptable to others. The Democratic equivalent would be Bernie calling himself a socialist when his policies are nothing of the sort. He is deliberately signaling his unacceptability to moderates and his commitment to his base. That would explain why Warren did not generate as much enthusiasm despite very similar policies--she did not try to deliberately make herself unacceptable to the moderate right.

We vaccinate for both here - E/W Encephalitis but it rarely rears its ugly head in these parts.

Brazil, Hungary, Poland, Philippines..... too many sad alternatives these days. But hey trump has just announced a truthology 1776 bureau, so he might get ahead of them.

Of course there was, but all of the cases were considered covid. Unless the emergence of covid caused all of flu and pneumonia cases to suddenly disappear?

Given how stringent Oz was on the lockdown, it's no wodner people want to get away, even it only means for a few hours. And you still return to Oz. Not what I do but I get it...
I don't get it. Maybe a couple of hours max. In 1st class with a window seat. But not seven in cattle class with a high likelihood of no window. Sounds like hell and a good way to catch covid-19, with no gain.

In BC they had a big year coming up so the treeplanting industry did the masking/ distancing/ camp isolation, usually there is one or 2 people sick at any given time but this year not only did nobody get covid they didnt get all the usual sickness that happens in a camp, they ended up isolated for 14 days with no sickness of any kind everybody stayed healthy & made more money

Better than a vaccine? Certainly less variation with physical barriers in effectiveness at a population level. Masks for airborne, bed nets for insect spread diseases. Sometimes the simple solution is the simple one.
Move upside and let the man go through...
