My impression is that while the US and Canada are similar in style and customs, the number of assholes per 1000 in the US population is twice as high as it is in Canada .

Canadians like to think this is true but having lived in both countries, proportionately the number of assholes and stupid people are about the same.

There are fundamental differences but that isn't one of them

I've noticed that several of the grocery stores around here have reset their machines to do away with signatures. It's possible I've been below a purchase threshold but it seems to be happening more and more often (that I don't need to sign).

Give it a rest Al, when we were in BC for a week in February it didn’t seem different from WA at all except for the shitty legal weed and the availability of “Old Style” Pilsner, oh and the metric system.

Same attitudes, same cars, same food, same language and even the same shitty brodozers. Like it or not the US and Canada have way more similarities than differences. It’s like the difference between Wisconsin and California.

Our son is being transferred to Las Vegas in about 2 weeks. DOD now forbids military personnel from traveling to California, which means he cannot come here to visit when he's on leave, and more importantly for him, can't go to Yosemite, where's he's been starting to work on big walls. Hope we get this shit figured out soon. I don't relish flying or driving to LV. I suppose if things are raging I wouldn't want him flying home anyway. But it's kind of ironic given that Nevada is spiking worse than CA, he'll be working in civilian hospitals unless he's deployed, and when he first arrives he's quarantined for 2 weeks, in a civilian hotel, and has to go out for his meals--some quarantine. He found a good deal at the MGM Grand. I think he should stay at Trump Intl--maybe he can bring the Covid.

Dude - homemade mozzarella is laughably easy.

Get yourself some whole milk, rennet and citric acid and it'll take about an hour all told to have about 1-1/2lbs of fresh mozzarella. With tomato season *just* getting into swing, it's a sure-fire summer winner.

I want to try this. Best/easiest recipe? there're a million minor variations it seems. Tips and tricks? Ordering rennet and citric acid.
