And I'm no left wing conspiracy nut job, I've just seen the Trumps' track record and wouldn't put anything past them at this point. They've probably already drafted the pardon for it.

Marketing plan: "Donate $500 to my reelection 2024 campaign and get a free Trump vaccine! The Trump vaccine is the best, most beautiful vaccine in the USA!" But they'll store it at room temp to save money and it won't work.

Not a conspiracy theory, just a prediction.

I feel like we should also prioritize teachers for the vaccine. People are finally talking about the toll on not just the kids, but the parents and the economy of schools being closed.

Damn right. They should be first in line after HCWs.

Of course schools will still have tons of closures due to the quarantine rules, but at least the teachers will have some protection.

    Teachers? Hell yeah!

Slightly OT and maybe it has been covered here.

If you are vaccinated you are not able to get sick but are still able to be infected and infect others?

Answer: The vaccine will likely be highly effective at preventing disease but might not be as effective at preventing asymptomatic infection, where the recipient of the vaccine might not get sick but could still spread the virus.

As a parent I agree. I'm just fucking tired. Every day something goes haywire and I'm just trying to keep some semblance of normalcy for my daughter.

Only problem with this is the States are handling the administration of the vaccine. Also being originally from Chicago where half the politicians literally end up in jail I would be more concerned of it mysteriously disappearing in that City than at the Federal level.

Not teachers first at all. 70% of deaths are age 70 & older. Get to the nursing homes then 70+ with comorbidity and then all 70 + year olds. If we can protect that group the hospitals will start emptying out and the crunch will be over. I suspect that the older the patient the more care they require, the sicker they are and their stays in the hospital are longer. Front line health care of course

Can't vouch for the content of the book but my former grad school prof, who is a covid log hauler, wrote a book about it and home care when you get it:

The guy lives in the Reno area and is an avid skier and mountain biker so is not a total slob. He is also a PhD in Chem Engineering from MIT and was a chief scientist at Genentech for a while where he helped develop the process by which monoclonal antibodies are manufactured so he definitely knows his science.

I'm pretty close to the end of the line according to that tool, which is fine, but I don't understand some of the prioritization. There are 20somethings ahead of me; aren't I more at risk (age 46) than them?

    Dude.

You have to VOTE for politicians that will make those a priority.

Hint: NONE of those politicians are Repub or Libertarians. NONE.

I suspect you are simply paying lip-service to "wanting" these things.

Thanks to the Rocky Mountain Biological Lab up in Gothic, little old Crested Butte and Gunnison actually has plenty of super cold freezer space, one of only 4 places on the western slope that can say that. I'm hoping that pushes us towards the front of the line for the vaccines.
