For a little piece of good news there are currently three universal flu vaccines that are in Phase III trials that if successful will eliminate the need to pick / guess what strains of seasonal flu are going to be targeted each year.
The other way we could see an improvement is a bit of a vaccination holy grail: A universal flu vaccine, one that could provide long-lasting protection against many types of the virus. This would stop the need for a new version of the vaccine each year. Researchers have been working for years to create a vaccine that targets a stable portion of the virus -- one that doesn’t mutate. Several possible universal vaccines are in clinical trials right now, including three that have reached phase III, where the vaccine is given to thousands of people and tested to make sure it works and is safe.

I went into three stores yesterday, 2 liquor stores and a pizza place. One I just turned around and walked out and the other two I got what I needed and split right away. The one I walked out of they didn't even have masks visible and the others were either nose hanging out or just straight up chin guards. It's pretty much that way everywhere here.

I should clarify that it's worse at small, privately owned businesses than at chain or corporate places although a lot of fast food places are bad and only the drive through person is wearing one.

Yeah, I was surprised at the mask compliance in OR, even in places like Frenchglen and Fields a couple weeks ago. Not so much in Denio NV and Alturas CA.

Yes but you never know. I have caught myself forgetting about touching my face before I use sanitizer or wash my hands. Still thinking about it but the sudden rise in cases has me concerned.
We were cruising along going down... down... down... got to under 30 cases less than a month ago then BOOM!
62K in the county, 33K in the city of W2.
I know it's not the worst numbers as these things go but as I said above less than a month ago we were in the 30s with no hospitalizations now were over 100 and climbing everyday with 7 people in the hospital. To date we've had 6 deaths.
Here's our break down to date:

My favorite comment that I'm hearing all the time - "There's a statewide mask mandate yet cases are still going way up. It's obvious that masks aren't working." It's like people are oblivious to the fact that cases are rising because people are not following the mask and distancing guidelines. My Instagram is full of people who obviously don't give a shit.
And if I hear one more person say that wearing a mask is going to make them sicker.....

Report last night said mask wearing in Washington was 75% but needs to be 95% for control.
I watch a weekly live YouTube show that is run out of a shop in TX and no one ever wears a mask. Multiple employees on the show standing shoulder to shoulder without a mask in sight. Last week they had a guest artist from Indiana - no mask on her or the host and they were hugging, taking and sitting 1ft apart inside for over an hour.
I have to admit it's nice to see normal interaction sans masks but it makes me want to say to them "WTF?"
