Ok kids, here's a lesson, and maybe some good can come from this tragedy unfolding. It is not the old that are predominantly dying or spending months in the hospital from this, it is those with underlying conditions which become much more prevalent with age, thus the correlation. Many of these underlying conditions are related to our personal choices. The pandemic is overwhelmingly targeting those with diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory illnesses. The vast majority of these underlying conditions would not occur if folks took care of themselves better throughout their lives.
It's not rocket surgery either.

Out of curiosity .. is a law limiting group size to 5 or 10, constitutional? Even if they're 6' apart .. Right of the people to peaceably assemble and all that?
Not that I condone anyone assembling right now, but when some 'group' gets nailed by the cops and it turns into a fight and all other matters of inevitability .. then what?

Indeed. In Sweden there is a interesting situation that the local Department of Health has actually "legislative powers" to impose the measures while the government has not. It is even a bit uncertain what powers government would have if they would declare full state of emergency, if they could preside over DoH or not.
The other thing with Sweden compared to its neighbours (Den,Nor,Fin) is that is nowadays extremely ill prepared for contingencies, be it army or disasters.
After cold war (during which they were proper preppers) they run down every area and is now playing catch up. Norway and Denmark never did that to Swedens extent, let alone Finland which is called North Korea of Scandinavia for a reason.
So, currently there is a very interesting lab experiment going on how the said countries will ride out and what the ramifications will be in the long run.
Swedes have always been the Gladstone Gander in everything they do, so in some weird way they will probably ride this out unscathed and rule again the waves of the Baltic Sea.
Or not.
No its not, not even close. Normalising for population Swedens death rate is still 10 times higher than Finlands.
See above.
Underlined things that I don't totally agree with.
Sweden does not differ that much from other European countries with remote working etc. It is a (very) urbanised country with huge portion of workforce in office environment, which, to date, has not yet switched to remote working like its neighbouring countries, let alone imposed lockdowns and restrictions.
Sweden is like the libertarian version of "Scandinavian Socialism" and their prevailing attitude is distinctively different from Fin/Nor/Den and this probable be due to that they don't have similar collective memory/trauma of WW2.
That said, it is "fascinating" to see how Swedens approach pans out. I am quite certain that the approach will be researched extremely closely in the future due to the similarities of the neighbouring countries and the lessons learned will be implemented in the future by other countries.
The floggings will continue until morale improves.

Testing is such garbage in the US there isn't a good data set to go off. I'm now up to 5 people I know in 3 states that almost assuredly have it/had it and couldn't get tested. Even deaths are unreliable at this point given lack of testing and pressures to downplay it.

From todays local paper.
Government is infringing on our right to assemble
Phil Mooney
I watched the governor’s daily news cast today. I was forced to because my tv channel interrupted what I was watching! By taking advantage of free coverage, because a Democrat never wastes a crisis, especially during an election year, he gets free TV all over the state. I believe he has finally pushed his toes just over the line set by the Constitution of the United States and the First Amendment: “Government shall make no law prohibiting the right of the people peaceably to assemble.”
I am to stay in my house except for certain priority travel (who gets to make that distinction?) like to get food, or go to the hospital or pharmacy. Are the sheriff, police or highway patrol going to pull me over for going to the store for a pack of corn seeds. Need them to plant my garden! What if I and 10 of my friends want to stand in front of the courthouse and have a cigar? Or talk about the novel “1984,” by George Orwell? That and the Constitution make for good reading in this climate of repression. What’s next, calling for martial law?
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.
