That all makes sense. so that graph is still useful. appreciate you both setting me straight.
This is why we need testing, because we can't judge if anything we're doing is working unless we base it off corpse count compared to other countries I would guess?Damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that

Fire/ Ems Update #3 (SW Edition)
Just sat thru a webinar put on by the IAFC.....They tried to live stream it yesterday but so many Chiefs signed up for it the system crashed. Mostly dealt with best practices for Fire Departments, which we are actually doing most of already. The personal protective equipment (PPE) shortages are already starting to show up in places like Seattle and NYC, so if we can't flatten that curve, it's going to become a serious issue, and fast.
We currently have four members in quarantine for high-risk exposure to patients who tested positive for Covid19. That number will increase, we just don't know how much or how soon. To Iceman's point about surgical masks, the first thing our crews are doing when they run on a potential Covid patient is hand the patient a mask and have them put it on if they are able. This is to reduce the level of exposure hazard to our members.
Last year we averaged 290 calls a day for people feeling "sick". That number has actually dropped to around 260, so I'm cautiously optimistic that people are using telemedicine or nursing hotlines. Small sample size as far as time, so we will see.
We have four drive thru testing sites set up. We are looking at finding a building that we can convert to a public safety- only testing site for police and fire. Cautiously optimistic on this as well.
Everyone is stressed to some degree, but we are managing.....No word from the state about any sort of drastic lockdown like New Jersey just did, but again it's still pretty early for us. Again people, stay home. And air hugs to any of you on the front lines.....I'll keep you all updated. I will defer to Brother Diamond Joe for an EC update. Stay safe. What we have here is an intelligence failure. You may be familiar with staring directly at that when shaving. .

Yeah, testing is important. There’s a chart on the second page of this presentation showing the epidemic trend in Shanghai past 25 days. It also compares Shanghai's spread with Italy's:
http://himalayacapital.com/2020.3.13...ng%20ZHANG.pdf
Using testing to enable early control of local transmission is key to stopping disease spread. How they slowed the spread and treated infected patients:
- All suspected patients should be tested at least twice by CDC
- All nucleic tests and treatment are free
- All diagnosed patients should be admitted to designated hospital
- All close contacts of the diagnosed patients were traced and quarantined for 14 days, and all close contacts of the diagnosed patients received SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR tests
- Shanghai opened 110 designated fever clinics
- ALL patients who met epidemiology criteria+1 clinical relevant symptom scan go to these clinics
- If the physicians thought the patient met the criteria of suspected COVID-19 infections, the patient would be admitted in to the quarantine ward and CDC staff would come for sampling and epidemiological questions
- If nucleic acid test turned our positive, all patients were enrolled into the designated hospital in Shanghai

Heh. It’s temporary, and they say they’ll continue to ship everything they have, just prioritizing for essentials.

Way to counter facts with insults
Then couple it with a decades old insult.
Where did you pick that up? a bar in Moab?
We're one penstroke away from martial law now. Martial law is military rule.
One of the first things that happens is prisoners are summarily executed.
Saw that there's almost 30 covid cases in the LA County Jail alone.
That might make sheriffs and wardens scream to clear the joints out.

"Where are the photos of overflowing intensive care departments and the thousands of virus victims? I would add, where are the photos of the funerals and interviews with families of those who have succumbed to the virus?
These are genuine questions, it has seemed very curious to me that we have not seen endless footage of emergency vehicles arriving at packed hospitals brimming with patients in need of emergency care.
In any other situation we would be saturated with news feeds providing 24/7 coverage." -Vanessa Beeley. Investigative journalist

"Conclusions: In the close contacts of COVID-19 patients, nearly half or even more of the 'asymptomatic infected individuals' reported in the active nucleic acid test screening might be false positives."

A German lung specialist confirmed that the virus test has not yet been clinically validated, i.e. it may indeed respond positive to normal coronaviruses, too.
