NHL suspended. Guess I don't have to worry about sucking up the cost of those tickets quite yet. I really wanted to go but didn't really want to be "that guy" who drags this thing back into my area.
Also both of my parents are old and immune compromised. I have to help with things almost every day. If I ended up quarantined, that would be a very rough stretch for them.

But that means no reckless speculation either? That's like 37% of the last 4 pages alone.

I’ll say it again - every cure mitigates symptoms. What you posted was nonsensical.

But sure, against my better judgement I’ll bite: how do you define “a cure”?

Does giving antibiotics to a person with a bacterial infection = a cure?

I didn’t say that. Did someone else?

Tylenol mitigates flu symptoms. It’s not a cure for the flu. I know that’s not rocket science - just want to ensure we’re all on the same page here.

Although that may lead to the production of an ever growing group of idiots.

The need to be right versus the uninformed mouthbreathers is nearly as great as the desire to recklessly speculate on doomsday scenarios it seems lately.

I've heard several experts explain that widespread testing isn't particularly useful at this point. Especially since the tests are in short supply and are better used for healthcare workers and the elderly.

Can you imagine the fucking chaos.

People would be joining the back of the queue straight after testing negative.

    JFC - just to summarize:

not everything that mitigates symptoms is a cure (Tylenol lowers a fever and helps with aches and pain of the flu - but it’s not a cure)

something that cures a disease by definition is going to mitigate the symptoms of that disease

How we define “cure” can be up for debate

    - if I have bacterial meningitis and I’m given antibiotics and I get better was I cured?

    - tamiflu is an antiviral - it’s even given in flu outbreaks to vulnerable people in order to prophylactically prevent flu from developing...is that being given prophylactically just to mitigate their symptoms? No - it’s being given to prevent the flu virus from replicating inside those patients - that’s how it works.

Whether you feel that constitutes a cure is I guess debatable. But to say Tamiflu is just for symptom treatment is not accurate in my opinion (even though it of course improves symptoms )
