My company instituted a global work from home policy today after an employee at HQ had symptoms.

I have a great car that loves long trips, and I don't mind the drive. Do I give up 10 days to give my son, wife and me peace of mind?
i don't know if he's done the route, but travelling teaches lessons that translate to real life better than anything in school (edit- for instance, how to spell traveling).

googling 'weeks behind italy' is pretty gloomy. hopefully the social distancing pays off sooner rather than later

today the few people left who were only taking this half serious started taking it super serious
today was more amazing sacrifice and leadership
people were in tears. rationing care was discussed for the future
people are either starting or well into the process of working themselves to the breaking point, in the hospital, in public health
but there is no other choice
    until they collapse
    and they will
there is some reserve force... but it is small. it will be pushed forward into the gaps... and overwhelmed too
the virus will not get tired first

when you collapse you gotta stand up again
    most everyone will live
but this viral war is going to be particularly awful and tragic in the hospital

Had that happen at a Walgreens a week ago. Cashier starts having a coughing fit while walking to check me out. I placed my stuff on the shelf and walked the fuck out of there. Would have done the same prior to the Coronavirus.

The trick I use at stores at the check out line to create social distance from the people who want to stand right behind you is keeping my cart behind me. Gives at least 4-5 ft of space behind and you can control your distance ahead.

I am impressed that you employer has the resources and leadership to make these sorts of calls. My employer is in full on reaction mode with not much of a plan as far as I can tell.

They are "working on" work from home options for eligible employees. Full on reaction mode - wash your hands.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday. I've been around so many sick people in work related settings in the past two weeks it isn't even funny. I'm definitely not happy with how flippantly some people seem to be treating this. I had multiple people try to shake my hand yesterday.

Next time someone extends their hand to shake mine, they're getting the Sergeant Hartman:

Any idea how long it can survive in a margarita and on a vinyl bus seat? My parishioners would like to know.

Question I can't seem to find the answer too. Once testing becomes widely available I assume many/most of us will have already had it, no? Will tests show if you have had it or only are currently actively infected?

Aww, that's cute. You still think that there will eventually be widely available tests.

    Yeah in like 2023 maybe?

It would just be damn nice if most of us can get sick for a week or two if we haven't already and then just go back to living our damn lives.
