    Flying

Is it dumb to book a flight with a short-ish layover in Newark with skis? I'm concerned that a 36-minute layover is too short and my skis won't make it. And it's Newark! I think I answered my question.

you probably won't make it, especially if there's winter conditions.

It could work out fine; it depends. Where are you departing from and when?

Ha! I know, but it's my only decent option.

I can get a longer layover with a different flight.

36 minutes in Newark is tight even if you are only carrying what you can fit in your pockets. I hate that fucking place. Connecting there to and from BTV is always a CF.

We need to know his 800m time to better evaluate this.

And stay away from the Air China gate in Terminal B.

Yep, there could be a hold that has you sitting on the tarmac in Boston for over 36 minutes waiting for air traffic to clear. Last winter had a 3 hour connection in Newark heading to Zurich from RDU turned into a little over an hour connnection due to this. Plus United.

Yeah, I wouldn't book a flight with a 36-minute connection under any circumstances.

I don't like leaving less than 90 mins on layovers anymore, been burned to many times. And usually want more time travelling with sports equipment that may not make it onto the connecting flight. The only route I'll take more of a chance on is Southwest/Alaska on the west coast since most airports aside from SFO (fog) aren't affected much by weather and their planes usually aren't coming from somewhere else with bad weather that could prevent the incoming plane you'll be on from arriving.

The best I could do was an 1:40 layover. That should be plenty of time for them to lose my skis.

If you're from the east, there's no WAY you own big enough skis for Jackson. Just demo.

Recently got delayed out of BTV, bumped to a different flight out of Newark, then sat in a 55 plane line up to takeoff to Chicago. Of course missed the Chicago connection.

This in place of a hop from BTV then direct to the west coast with a noon arrival after 60-70 minute connection in Newark. Didnt hit the tarmac on the west coast until 8pm.

Killer was that while the flight crew was delayed due to duty hour limitations in BTV some lavatory water line was frozen, which apparently they could have bothered to check while they waited an extra hour on the pilots. Yes, United.

op do it like a civilized person. Find a hotel with free parking by the airport, drive down the day before, stay in the hotel and in the morning get up and go. Arrive at your destination refreshed, rested and with all your shit.
