Places to Eat Along I-80 in Wyoming and roads to Jackson

Below is a great, family run, Mexican restaurant in Rock Springs - a good stopping point whether you're turning North to Jackson or continuing on to Salt Lake. I found a breweries thread, a few road-trip threads, but nothing specific to food stops.

I started a spin-off thread to the Official I-70 Bitch Thread on places to eat, in the same sub-forum ("Snow Conditions and Weather"), titled "Places to Eat Along i-70, 285, etc. My thinking at the time was that if the road is closed, finding a place to hunker down for a 60-90 minutes to eat isn't such a bad idea (https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...g-I-70-285-etc).

After yet another white knuckle, wind-blown, whiteout round-trip through Wyoming on I-80, I thought it made sense to start a resource for this road as well. It would be cool if someone started a resource for I-25 (through Wyoming) to I-90 (Bozeman / Missoula).

Here's my entry in Rock Springs

    Los Primos
    443 N. Front St.
    Rock Springs, WY 82901
    (307) 382-9902

Say "hi" to Maria if you drop by & tell them a couple of crazy skiers who ordered corn tortillas recommended them (I'm sure they'll appreciate it).

Maria is a mid-30's, stocky lady with a Mohawk. It's a family run place, about 2 miles South of the I-80 exit.

About the only warning I'd make is to not expect barista quality coffee. Everything else is first class. These folks deserve to thrive, and I have to believe keeping small restaurants open in towns like this has to be tough.

Don't they can Chugwater Chili in Chugwater, Wyo?

On a side note, back in 2001, I saw a guy eastbound on I-80 get ground into sausage by a westbound car carrier after he lost control of his Yamaha at about 90mph and crossed the median about 20 miles W of Cheyenne. It was instant, but it was still really bad.

^^^^ was going to post that as well, haven’t stopped yet though.

This is going to not sound right but, Bonsai in Rock Springs is not too bad.
It’s been awhile since I have eaten their but it was pretty decent.

Andale Rapido in Laramie was good. I think that’s what it’s called.

Maybe I just think that bc this is the photo I took there

Then again, anything would have seemed like an oasis at that point of the drive. Ymmv

So I tell Dave the mechanic “how big of a gas tank can we put under this truck”

    Why, says Dave.

“I want to avoid stopping anywhere between Dubuque and Ogden.”

    Hmmm. Yup. Says Dave.

The Cavalryman is where I used to take my dates in college when the usual beers and shots didn't work to get some. Looks like the menu has gotten a lot fancier, but its still a good old fashioned Wyoming tradition.

I have yet to actually eat there, but a friend of mine whose opinion I trust raves about Bon Rico in Evanston: https://www.yelp.com/biz/bon-rico-evanston
