    Aging Dog ?

Our wonderful golden turned 12 in December. She has always slept through the night, but for the past 2-3 months she has needed to go outside to pee once or twice a night....every night.

Is this normal or an indication that something may be wrong (thinking bladder infection)?
Otherwise, everything else about her seems normal (for an old dog at least).

*wife is going to contact the vet today....just wanted to hear your experiences.

We have some good threads here that go into detail on this. Search under ‘incontinence’ etc.

    Good luck with your furkid

Pretty normal for aging humans, so maybe the same for dogs. We have a dog door so I never noticed that with my old golden (passed in 2019), but he may have been going out once or twice a night.

Can we institute a new rule around here?

You have to post a picture of any Golden Retriever mentioned in a post.

Good luck with your pup Gatorboy.

She's honestly been the perfect dog. Very little maintenance, never bites, comforts others when needed.....so the question we faced: Do we wait until she passes and then get another dog or let her "train her replacement"? Obviously we decided on the training route, and this now 2 yr old doodle gave the old girl a spark & a jump in her step. The puppy's energy and exuberance rubbed off on the old girl and seems to have made getting old much more enjoyable.

I miss Norman, and the puppy (now 15 months old) is now Norman-sized.

You should take your fur baby to the vet to make sure it's nothing serious.
For plain old incontinence, it's an easy fix. Cheap pills.
    No longer stuck.

worth the cost of an Exam.

If you want to aggravate your vet. Search ' hormone-responsive incontinence '

Good luck ( with geriatric care... ) tj

we're about a year back on age, i'm noticing it's a loootttt more effort for her go get up and nudge my hand. but yah. awesome breed. no matter how hard my then pre-teen sons played with her when she was young, she would turn her head and not even play bite. Barks about once a week.

next door neighbor got a doodle and they seem way, way more aggressive. we'll stick golden wait what were we talking about?
