It actually stays better on my mtb than the gravel bike. Gravel bike has a round top tube so it can rotate a little bit and I sometimes hit it, but so far on the revel it doesn’t do that—top tube is flatter. If your mtb has a square or flatter TT I’d say it should work.

I’m thinking about getting some custom bags for the revel to do some mtb bikepacking trips next year—there is enough room I think I could run a full length bag on top of the TT.

Rain/hail/snain ride at Pine Hill today was really, really fun. PH + fall leaves + ice = a scary but fun day.

    Rock.

Rocks and roots were scary slick at Mobbs Farm today. It was my first time there and I’m a little surprised that the place gets so little love.

I managed to find an hour of no rain and even some sun poking through.

No pics but I just got back from a ride where I passed a couple hikers with their two poodles and two lambs. WTF?

The east side of Braintree has got to be one of the toughest climbs in VT. So much climbing, but very little room for actual recovery.

My goal with braintree gap is always just to make it without unclipping, its never easy, but especially hard when the leaves cover the rocks. I have trouble doing it with any gearing harder than 38 front, 42 rear.

I did the Braintree 7 this year, for the virtual event, was a tough day.

We only went up and back west side. Having not been on a bike in a month I was glad to get breaks waiting for my friend, jumped off near the top of the last pitch as my right knee was protesting. The NW side of the road has been marked for logging this fall.

Have you ever heard of a biker or runner wearing orange getting shot by a hunter in New England woods? I am staying out of the woods for MA 2 WEEK deer rifle season, but curious.

Can't say for sure about what the biker was wearing, rumor was something maroon colored, but there was an incident a few years back near me:

My general rule of thumb is ride mid-day, wear orange, and go to the more popular trail systems where the extra hikers/bikers either scare the deer away or hunters avoid because they know it is a popular spot. There's also a couple spots around here that don't allow hunting at all. Alternatively, get some lights and go at night.

To me, it also also about not hurting our rights to trails by creating complications with hunters and riders. Also, their season is short, so I try to suck it up.

But like others say, 12-2, with orange, in popular places, or after sunset (30min). I tend to think riding the more cleared, leaf blown trails makes more sense as well, then they might know to expect you. I saw 1 hunter this year, but it was pre rifle season, bow and arrow. But it was during the 12-2 window, and he was hiking out. Plenty of foot prints to show you they are everywhere though, even on our property (not posted).

Apparently their was a dangerous interaction in the mad river valley between hunters and MTBers. Not sure of more details but mad river riders posted about it.

A buddy of mine had a friend shot and killed in Ct a few years back around dusk. Don't remember the exact details but could find out.
